UPDATE 1
It appears that a mysterious image is making its way around the Internet that shows there will be two waves of Amazing Spider-Man figures released. The primary wave and a "Alternate Wave" with 3 alternate SWAP figures. Both waves will presumably have the same pieces to complete Ultimate Green Goblin Build-A-Figure.
The image shows that the primary wave will include:
- Black Cat (SWAP)
- Carnage (SWAP)
- Amazing Spider-Man
- Electro
- Ultimate Beetle (SWAP)
- Superior Spider-Man
The Alternate Wave will include:
- Spider-Girl (SWAP)
- Toxin (SWAP)
- Amazing Spider-Man
- Electro
- Boomerang (SWAP)
- Superior Spider-Man
Though this breakdown makes sense and is more in keeping with the information Hasbro told us about this wave, the actual origin of this image seems a little dubious at best. Supposedly it originated from some Asian etailer website, however no one seems to have an actual link to that site. The etailers I have seen taking pre-orders for the Amazing Spider-Man figures DO NOT list this alternate wave or anything about there being SWAP figures with it. If you have a link to an actual etailer who is taking pre-orders for this "Alternate" wave please feel free to post it in the comments section below.
Also, though it does seem unlikely the
AGENT VENOM figure we mentioned below will be included in this Amazing Spider-Man line, there still is no news about the Jubliee Build-A-Figure wave of Marvel Legends figures being released, so the question still remains of whether or not that wave will ever see the light of day. We will continue to update this story as more information comes to light.
BBTS has put up for pre-order Hasbro's first series of
Captain America: The Winter Soldier and
Amazing Spider-Man Legends figures. In the listings though there seems to be some discrepancies of what we were just recently
told by Hasbro a few weeks ago.
First in The Captain America wave, BBTS has added a listing for a previously unannounced
World War II Captain America figure. This figure has never been seen and there was no indication of it from the
back of the packaging for the Captain America wave we saw at New York Comic Con. Though BBTS does not list it as such, we have to wonder if this will be some kind of variant. Here is how they list that 1st wave:
Captain America The Winter Soldier with Mandroid BAF
1x Marvel Now! Captain America
1x WWII Captain America (NOT PICTURED)
1x Agents of Hydra - Version 1
1x Agents of Hydra - Version 2 (Both Agents of Hyrda contain the same BAF piece)
1x Soldiers of A.I.M. - Version 1
1x Soldiers of A.I.M. - Version 2 (Both Soldiers of A.I.M. contain the same BAF piece)
You should note from this listing, they have
Red Skull and the
Hydra Solider listed as
Agents of Hydra 1 and 2 as well as
Baron Zemo and the
A.I.M. Soldier as
Soldiers of A.I.M. 1 and 2. This is because on the packaging, due to being
SWAP figures they have generic names listed on them. So for instance on the packaging Red Skull and the Hydra Soldier will both be listed simply as Agents of Hydra. BBTS still says the
Captain America Legends will be broken up in
2 waves, and that you will also need to get the second wave to complete the
Mandroid Build-A-Figure as previously reported.
As for the
Amazing Spider-Man Legends, this is where things get really interesting. BBTS indicates there will only be
1 wave of figures released in order to complete the
Ultimate Green Goblin Build-A-Figure, and that there are
NO SWAP figures in the wave. This again somewhat contradicts what Hasbro
told us before. Just a few weeks ago Hasbro told us there would be
SWAP figures in the
Amazing Spider-Man legends line and that they would be offered in a different wave.
So this is how BBTS lists the Amazing Spider-Man wave:
Amazing Spider-Man 2 with Green Goblin BAF
1x AMAZING SPIDER-MAN
1x BLACK CAT
1x BEETLE
1x SPAWN OF SYMBIOTES
1x SUPERIOR SPIDERMAN
1x ELECTRO
Right off the bat, the thing I noticed about this listing is that the
Carnage figure is listed simply as
"Spawn Of Symbiotes." To me this reeks of a generic name used for a
SWAP figure like we saw with the "Agents of Hydra" figures listed in the Captain America Legends wave.
So
IF Carnage is in fact a swap figure, the name "Spawn of Symbiotes" would indicate we would be getting some other as-of-yet unannounced Symbiote figure.
COULD Hasbro be planning on releasing as a SWAP, the
Agent Venom figure that was originally slated for the final wave of regular Marvel Legends figures that included the
Jubliee Build-A-Figure? If so does that mean that the final regular Marvel Legends wave Hasbro announced back at SDCC which also included
Batroc,
Radioactive Man,
Tiger Shark and
Blizzard has been canceled?
The Jubilee Build-A-Figure wave was supposed to be the final wave released in 2013 under the regular Marvel Legends banner and we've tried several times to get a status update on them from Hasbro to no avail. We also couldn't help but notice that there has been no solicitations information released on them anywhere, even though we already have pre-orders being taken on 2014 product.
We will keep digging to try and find answers to all these questions for you, but in all honesty we may just have to wait and see what does and doesn't get released on shelves, because it seems this stuff is in constant flux and continues to change on a continual basis.
One final thing. According to BBTS, Hasbro has increased wholesale & retail pricing on the 6" Marvel Legends figures. The new MSRP is around ~$20 each. Shown below is our first look at the packaging for the Amazing Spider-Man Legends line. Note that the
Superior Spider-Man figure appears to come with a set of
interchangeable hands.
