2016 SDCC Exclusive Marvel Legends 6" The Vault Boxset Revealed With Better Quality Image?!?

Jay Cochran - July 03, 2016
While Hasbro has yet to officially announce their 2016 Marvel based San Diego Comic Con exclusives, the other week some really blurry images showed up online revealing what appeared to be a 6" Marvel Legends boxset featuring a mishmash group of villain characters and Spider-Man in a Vault or Raft prison style of packaging.

We refrained from posting about this at that time because a number of things seemed off about it, including the fact the images were very blurry and their just wasn't enough evidence to indicate if the set was legit or not. One of the biggest oddities about the set was that the characters featured in it had no real connection.

Normally these SDCC exclusive boxsets have some type of common comic book story based theme. While the closest theme we could come up with was a story featuring Spider-Man titled "Breakout", which did revolve around villains breaking out of prison, none of the villains in the set were the ones featured in that story.

Another oddity was that the person who originally posted the blurry images on social media, seemed to be a known customizer. While this set and the packaging seems pretty legit, we've seen plenty of customs over the years that would give the real things a run for it's money.

Anyway we've tried reaching out to Hasbro to see if they would shed any light on this, but of course they refused to comment, spouting how they won't comment on leaks. All they would say is an official reveal would be coming soon, which likely means next week some time.

So now you may be asking why we are reporting on it now? Well today a much better quality image has surfaced giving us our best look at the set, and while we still can't confirm that it's legit, we figure it's worth giving you a look at it. The set includes figures of Spider-Man, Enchantress, Dreadknight, Sandman (Sand Form), Purple Man, and Abomination, all of which seem to feature molds of previously released figures.

Spider-Man appears to be a variation of the Pizza Eating Spider-Man, Enchantress appears to use the Scarlet Witch mold, Dreadknight appears to use the new Hobgoblin mold, Purple Man I believe is using the Chameleon Mold, Sandman uses the Absorbing Man mold and Abomination is a repaint of the Abomination being released as a Build-A-Figure in the new wave of Captain America Legends.

So check out the new images below and stay-tuned for an official announcement to come likely sometime next week, when we will know for sure if this is a legit set or not. Thanks to Tarot for the heads up on the new image.
