Youtuber rektangular has posted a new video with some pretty interesting news for what possibly will be the first wave of Spider-Man themed Marvel Legends figures in 2021, as well as some new Fan-Channel exclusive single releases.
I do want to point out that I have not personally had a chance to vet any of this information myself nor has it been confirmed by Hasbro. rektangular has developed a pretty decent track record for sniffing this stuff out which is why I am going on and sharing the information with you, but we will treat all of this as RUMOR for now. One thing to note however, at the beginning of his video he starts talking about the recent Best Of Avengers: Endgame figures. Those figures are overseas releases that have been out for some time now, and have nothing to do with Dwight's tease from the other week's video live-stream event when he held up what looked like a charred Thanos figure arm.
Anyway, the interesting stuff talked about in this video is what looks to be the line-up for the first wave of 2021 Spider-Man themed Marvel Legends. rektangular has discovered a listing that suggest the wave will include the following figures:
- Into The Spider-Verse movie based Miles Morales Spider-Man
- Into The Spider-Verse movie based Peter B. Parker Spider-Man>
- Into The Spider-Verse movie based Spider-Gwen
- Into The Spider-Verse movie based Prowler
- Marvel Comics Frog-Man
- Marvel Comics Hand Ninja
Hasbro back before they knew how successful the Into The Spider-Verse movie from Sony was going to be, gave us a pretty weak attempt at Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen in a Target exclusive 2-pack. Hopefully with these, they will be much more movie accurate. Also while I don't remember exactly where, I seem to recall Hasbro mentioning earlier this year that they would be revisiting the Into The Spider-Verse movie universe for the Marvel Legends line.
Frog-Man is another very obscure Spidey villain that would be in keeping with the likes of other recent releases such as White Rabbit.
The Hand Ninja might seem like an odd choice for a Spider-Man wave, but since Hasbro usually puts Daredevil related characters into these waves, it makes much more sense. Also I am sure Hasbro would later on re-release it as part of their HasbroPulse army-builder line.
In the video rektangular speculates that Stilt-Man makes the most sense for the Build-A-Figure in the wave, and I totally agree with him. It was pretty apparent a Stilt-Man figure was being teased in a previous live-stream video by Hasbro, and he makes the most sense for a Spider-Man wave with his connections to Daredevil.
- Stilt-Man Build-A-Figure
rektangular has also discovered what looks to be additional Fan-Channel exclusives released on Spider-Man Retro cardbacks with the following figures
- J. Jonah Jameson
- Black Cat
- Firestar with the dog Ms. Lion
J. Jonah Jameson makes perfect sense for one of these types of releases since Hasbro already did a Jonah headsculpt back when they released the Chameleon figure. They will likely use that headsculpt and put it on the body of the Black Panther movie Ulysses Klaue figure.
We've already gotten 2 versions of Black Cat fairly recently in the Marvel Legends line, so it's not terribly surprising they would push out a third one. Possibly some kind of slightly modified re-paint of the one they did in the Kingpin BAF wave.
Firestar is one many fans of the original Spider-Man: And His Amazing Friends cartoon have been wanting for some time, so it's great to hear there is a strong possibility that it is finally on the way. It is a little surprising to see her released as a single release like this, but she will probably incorporate a lot of parts from some other previously released figure(s). We do hope they go with her classic look, and not one of the more modern ones. Ms. Lion which was the dog first featured in the Amazing Friends cartoon will be a nice additional touch. Besides rounding out the Amazing Friends team with Iceman and Spider-Man, this figure will also put folks one step closer to rounding out their original New Warriors team.
So there you have it. As always until Hasbro officially confirms these which will hopefully be soon, we will treat all these as rumors. Let us know in the COMMENTS SECTION which ones you are most excited for, and if you want you can watch rektangular's entire video here.
given that they need to balance the new with old I would expect some wave fillers in it. IF Lady Deathstrike and Hood are in it alongside the other 3 having Doom and Hydra Supreme fill out the wave is not a bad idea. I still stand by my idea that it would be the Hydra counterpart to the Aim figure, random Hydra leader. Maybe it's Secret War Doom or, hopefully, Vernard.
true I mean I understand the whole padding that needs to happen in these waves, it's far too expensive to do too much new tooling for all of the figures which already seems like a lot of work is going into this wave, so it does make sense to fluff it out with some easy re-releases or variants to keep the cost from sky rocketing, but hey also it is Hasbro who never actually re-release a figure exactly the same ever, so even if it was just Hydra Supreme from the Arnim 2-pack and a re-deco'd doom (secret wars maybe? future foundation etc) at least it would be something new-ish, depending on the BAF of course it won't matter because I'll be buying them all and I already don't want Arcade haha.
the first thing I thought when Hydra Supreme was mentioned was just having this figure get re-released, which instantly dropped the wave's exciting factor because then they mentioned Victor Von Doom another Doom already? in whatever look.. it's still I don't need another doom so soon, I don't need Hydra Supreme again... if it turns out to be just those guys again, I'm gonna shake my fist and say.. they really missed the mark by not giving us a new character and wasted another slot, no Mandarin? no Ultron? man oh man.. please don't be that way Hasbro, this was a really good chance to have some fun with a wave.. don't blow it.

This is Hasbro we are talking about, if they can save money by re-releasing Stevil they probably would. Personally none of the non-big Supreme Hydras are that exciting. I would love Civil Warrior but that's a different wave.

I actually think people are misinterpreting Dwight's comment. He was talking about how they try to strike a balance between obscure and well-known BAFs, and he said Thanos would be happy, with the implication being that Thanos likes balance andHasbro's doing such agood job maintaining balance on this issue. I think a lot of people didn't connect the two comments the waythey were intended, and thought he meant Thanos would be happy about the particular choice of BAF for this wave. I don't think that's what he meant. I'd be surprised if we see Death. I think someone like Bi-Beast is way more likely.
after actually re-watching the video in question I do believe you are correct, it was a comment about Balancing, rather then a character directly related to thanos
Nah. I doubt they would re-release the armored look. Not if the rumours of civil warrior is true.

The Hydra Supreme figure would technical be a re-released Stevil, since he was called Hydra Supreme, the other leaders were called Supreme Hydra. Also I doubt if it is a Supreme Hydra it would be Strucker or Viper as they would use their more recognisable names.
A suited Doom wouldn't be that appealing and he doesn't even look like that anymore since his face was ruined at the end of that run. Including alternate heads would be a good idea, that or just do the Secret Wars ()1984) Doom

that was before the Fox acquisition. They are now allow to mix all they want. I mean look at the recent Old Men 2 pack. Hawkeye and hulk aren't exactly X-men noware they? Lady Deathstrike could easily be in this wave.
But thinking about it, JayC mention that the Hydra Supreme might be the Stevil version. However I'm thinking it might be 3 other versions. Most likely It could be the counterpart to the AIM Scientist Supreme and could be the Otto Vermis version. The other most likely is it could be Baron Von Strucker, just given the name Hydra Surpreme to make it sound more evil. Or less likely but possible is a redone Viper/Madame Hydra as she could be the second female in the wave.
As for Victor Von Doom, it could just be the suited version from the Iron Man comics. Would be the most obvious version and they could include other characters as swappable heads.

Hood could be a possibility, I'm not sure about Deathstrike and Doom though. Hasbro mentioned they aren't allowed to crossover lines hence the Red Onslaught instead of the proper Onslaught. So, I would probably see more generic Marvel Universe villains.
