Finally, a piece of marvel cinema that didn't disappoint! I'm not really one for bashing the MCU but I love how this one poked fun at the current state of the MCU. Loved see Jackman reprise his role and Ryan Reynolds did not miss a beat!
Excellent. This is the right movie to come along at just the right time. I knew when all the blowhard critics started hating on it for all the right reasons that it was going to be a massive banger. Just make a good movie with a great story great dialog and and cool action and leave all the commentary and editorializing on the cutting room floor and people will watch it over and over again. Regardless of massive plot holes. Deadpool summed it up with the line he said when he was talking to Buck during his surprise party and the rest of the movie just moved on from there. I would hope that this is a learning experience for Disney but unfortunately I think the prime lesson will be lost with the bunch of disconnected suits running the store and they will start to think between this movie and Spider-Man NWH that the key is a ton of cameos in short order we'll have Disney back to Disney antics but with a bunch of cool characters. That they will then efficiently ruin. I do. I do. I do hope Marvel gets back on track after this but based on what I've seen from Brave New World, Thunderbolts and FF so far I won't believe it until I see it.
Shawn Levy was the right choice! I love his Night at the Museum films and from the very beginning, you can tell by the tone that it is a Shawn Levy film.
There are films that are objectively good and some that are objectively bad, but I think nowadays a lot of films fall in the middle and people often confuse good with delivering exactly what they expected, or wanted to be done. I liked Deadpool and Wolverine a lot. They did some things I didn't anticipate, and didn't do some things I fully expected, but that is the fun of it all - not knowing where the film will take you. As someone who worked in a literary department, as a story editor for an Oscar winning producer, and as a freelance reader, I have read, synopsized and evaluated a ton of scripts, and I loved it. Sometimes my expectation would be exceeded, sometimes they wouldn't, but I never thought a film or show was bad just because they don't do what I imagined, or anticipated they would do. I recall people losing their minds over the finale of Game of Thrones, but the ending was more than competent, just maybe not exactly what you imagined or expected, and that is okay. If you think everything out there is bad, then study story craft and create your own material. Hopefully you will write something brilliant.
This weekend Deadpool surpassed the $1 billion dollar mark at the global box office looking at $1.029B+ to finish off Sunday. $535.2M from the international box office and $494.3M for domestic.Deadpool and Wolverine is only the second rated R movie to surpass $1 billion and will likely overtake the number 1 spot currently held by Warner Bros' first Joker movie which had $1.079B.
I truly enjoyed this movie with all my fanboy heart but If it was any other character this movie would fail miserably, because if you look closer you realize that structuring is pretty close to nonsensical and all over the place yet it works because it's Deadpool's comedy/parody movie. And not just any Deadpool movie but one with amazing amount of much needed fan service that truly matters to fans, however, movie still could have had much more refined plot and structure, which seems to be result of writers strikes and decision to move Deadpool to the summer release.
Another issue I see is short runtime, 2 hours and 7 minutes is pretty short to grasp the grandness of the movie, shorter runtime makes this movie feel artificially smaller in its scope, like some short story rather than event movie that it is. 2 hour run time is okay for origin movie but not fro multiverse team up one, another 10-15 minutes worth of scenes really could have help marinate this movie and make it's finale so much more satisfying, and maybe this movie had these scene but it seems like all modern MCU movies follow this "2 hour is most profitable runtime" scheme.

I don't know if it's just that good or if the other movies and shows have been so bad that I'm just finally enjoying something entertaining for once in a long while and it's totally giving me a little hope for the future. I do know for sure though that until something this good came along I've more or less just been trying to convince myself that not everything that's come out since Endgame has been that bad. But it has. All of it. All of it has been bad but to varying degrees. Loki is bad but the least bad. WandaVision was bad but way from the worst. The Falcon and Winter Soldier is just wretched. Hawkeye, Echo, She-Hulk, Moon Knight. All garbage. Man I even convinced myself that The Marvels was not that bad. Brie looked gorgeous and fit and amazing. Imani is so adorable and bubbly as Kamala. And I was just so excited to finally see Monica in the MCU that I completely fooled myself into thinking it was okay. But it wasn't. It was bad. It was boring and sloppy and convoluted and I challenge anyone who's seen Deadpool & Wolverine to go back and watch The Marvels again and not fall asleep just once or at least go back and ponder all the bad choices you've ever made as to how you spend the valuable limited time we have on this earth.
If one is starving, and handed gruel.........it's the best dang gruel you've ever had, right?I've seen dozens of films and TV shows that I initially thought we "teh bestest EVAH!!!!!". And then i watched them later and thought they were hideous. I've sat through gruel.....oh yes.I know I'm going to watch D&W again, I could not see or hear it properly the first time, but I went in know that was going to happen. I can watch it when it streams in a much more favourable controlled circumstance......and I figure i will enjoy it more. From FIFTY YEARS of watching superhero cinema, from childhood to senior adulthood, I've seen a LOT of pap. I now have bad reflexes to it, and I get even more discriminating every time and if things don't sound RIGHT, I just avoid it all together. D&W still sounds right. That's good enough for me.

Saw the movie last night, what a fun event, loved it, Can't say much here because I don't want to spoil anything but obviously there are some great surprises, but most of all it's lovely to see Hugh as Wolverine suited up and for the last time (I presume), also what a gore fest, this is almost at Horror movie levels with it's obscene killing and blood at times, of course it's tons of funny as to be expected, overall it's just a good entertaining watch, I'm probably gonna have to go see it again, and I have not gone to the theatres to watch movies more then once since Infinity War.
Hey look! Its that cloud monster thing from Loki!
