Stay-Puft -

I would just like to announce that I officially give full support toward NECA and any venture they go into from this point on. Sadly this toy may never catch on with the younger community due to the fact that they probably have never even heard of the Ghostbusters. Its kind of an irony we actually saw in the second movie when Winston and Ray went to the party and the kids preferred He-Man over them. Yeah these days the kids want Power Rangers or some BS like that.

None the less if you grew up in the 80's Stay-Puft was an icon. Everyone knew his lovable face and who he was affiliated with. Well today we will be getting him in fifteen inch rotocast form. And let me tell you this guy is huge. Pictures do not do him justice, he is fitting in nicely as the pet to my 18" Freddy and Jason.

First of all we have the box, or lack there of one. For the most part the box is an open shell much like the Spider-Man rotocast figures come in. Its held down by two huge twist ties. There are some plusses and minuses to it. For one you get to touch the figure and feel it so you know what you are getting, which is good. On the other hand kids can go in and rough him all up before you get to it. Nothing like getting a Stay-Puft that some kid smudged his brownie or chocolate milkshake on. Regardless of the package, the price is right at $15.99 to $19.99 per marshmallow man.

The sculpt is where he shines. This is most certainly the Stay-Puft we know. NECA decided to do his angry face that occurred after the busters decided to shoot him a bit. I think it would have been neat if they did a happy face variation, I mean we all like happy things. In addition to the nice sculpt there is articulation in the shoulders and legs. He also has a ball-joint on his neck. I realize there is not much articulation, but in all honesty I don't see a super-articulated marshmallow man in our future.

The paint is another high point. All the lines are clear and crisp, his tie and the blue sheet over his shoulder look very good. He has some blue shaded into certain parts of the body because otherwise we would have a large white canvas and it would probably hurt people's eyes. He has his Stay-Puft hat that includes a real red ribbon. I would say his proportions are not perfect, but I think that they did a good job on the cheated scale. As you can see in the picture Gozer hits his belly button, or where it would be if he had one.

All in all this is a decent figure and a nice homage to one of the best movies ever made. Here's hoping they actually get to make the Ghostbusters.
