Review: Marvel Universe Moon Knight

Review: Marvel Universe Moon Knight

Package Description
No one, not even Moon Knight himself, is really sure whether heís actually the avatar of the ancient god Khonshu, or if heís just crazy. It is without a doubt that he is stronger than the average man, and a far superior fighter to all but the best. He has devoted himself to Khonshu, acting out the Egyptian godís agenda of revenge against criminals from one end of the world to the other.

Appearance 9/10
Moon Knight shared the Daredevil body, and thus has the accompanying problems. The chest appears to be too wide, partly because the pectoral muscles are cut off abruptly at the ball jointed shoulders. Compounding this problem is the large gap between the upper and lower torso which is very visible on the white costume. Iím also not a fan of the bicep sculpt, which has an unnatural looking transition to the shoulder joint. The lower half of the figure is well proportioned and without any awkward looking joints. However because of the plain grey costume most of the visual attention is drawn to the upper half.

The color choices are excellent on this figure. There is a paint wash on the figure which matches closely his comic colors and adds a lot of texture to the figure. The lines are very clean for the crescent moon logo. There are also some moons sculpted into the belt which was a nice touch. The cape is a soft plastic. It drapes a little unnaturally around the neck and shoulders but otherwise looks good. Stylistically he fits in fine with other Marvel Universe figures, but his head looks a little small compared to other figures. Overall heís a decent looking figure. He could use a little work on the head sculpt and transition to the cape. In general though Iím not a fan of this body sculpt, but the figure still captures the look and feel of the character fairly well.

Articulation 9/10
Articulation is standard for the Marvel Universe line. The elbows bend about ninety degrees. The torso can twist and move forward and back very easily, but not side to side. The head can do hardly anything but move side to side. The cape restricts some movement, but not a lot because it is soft. Overall the range of motion and articulation is fairly standard for this line.

Poseability 9/10
Moon Knight has good balance. The cape also helps him stand in many dynamic poses because he can partially rest his weight on it. The body sculpt can look very good in some dynamic poses, but heíll require a flight stand for his best jumping poses. He holds the staff and dart easily, but can only hold one at a time. He can do just about anything other figures in this line can do, although the open hand is about useless.

Final Judgment: 27/30
As mentioned previously, Iím not a fan of this body sculpt, but Moon Knight still turned out pretty well. The paint application in particular is very good and lends itself to looking very nice in dynamic poses. Overall he doesnít add anything unique to the Marvel Universe line, but is still a solid figure to add to your collection.
