Character SummaryCYCLOPS has been with the X-MEN for so long, he knows little else. As the first mutant recruited to the team by Charles Xavier, his quick mind, moral certainty and serious demeanor make him a natural leader. He is the solid core around which the rest of the team is built, and around which it has always been centered. If Xavier is the heart of the X-MEN, CYCLOPS is the team's spine. Gifted - or cursed - with uncontrollable ability to fire incredibly powerful blasts of force from his eyes, he is doomed always to wear a visor of ruby crystal in order to manage his power. Because it hides his eyes, it enhances his reserved persona, making him a difficult man to read, and sometimes cutting him off from commiseration with his teammates over their many triumphs and tragedies. He has suffered more loss than many of the other X-MEN can ever know, and through it all he has, on some level, suffered alone.
