We are a couple of days late on this one but new set images from Thor: The Dark World have hit the internet showing Thor doing battle with the villain Malekith (Christopher Eccleston). We also get a look at the Dark Elves army.
In the comic books Malekith is the ruler of the Dark Elves and has the ability to manipulate the forces of magic for the purposes of teleportation, energy projection, physical malleability, flight by transforming into mist, illusion casting, and the ability to change the shape and appearance of other beings or objects. He also has increased strength, speed, stamina, durability, agility, and reflexes like all Dark Elves. Malekith has worked with both Loki and the demon Surtur in the past. He has appeared in the comics as well as most recently in the Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes animated series.
Shown below is some video footage taken of Thor and Malekith fighting on set as well as some images of the Dark Elf.
Marvel's "Thor: The Dark World" continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel's "Thor" and "Marvel's The Avengers," Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos...but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith (Christopher Eccleston) returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.
