No Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen For X-Men: Apocalypse

Jay Cochran - January 17, 2015
We already knew that the next installment for 20th Century Fox's X-Men franchise which is titled X-Men: Apocalypse would be focusing on the younger versions of the X-Men, and see James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender reprise their roles as Professor X and Magneto. You may have been wondering though, like we saw in X-Men: Days of Future Past, might we also see the older versions of the characters portrayed by Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen show up as well? The answer is no, at least according to Stewart in a recent interview he did with Larry King.

X-Men: Apocalypse is set to be released May 27, 2016 and will be directed by Bryan Singer. Apocalypse is said to take place a decade after Days of Future Past as the altering of time we saw in Days Of Future Present has unleashed a new and uniquely powerful enemy. Xavier (James McAvoy), Erik/Magneto (Michael Fassbender), Raven/Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), Gambit (Channing Tatum) and Hank/Beast (Nicholas Hoult) return and will be joined by a young Cyclops, Storm, Jean and others as the X-Men must fight an ancient evil determined to bring on the Apocalypse.

This latest movie is being scripted by Simon Kinberg from a story written by Singer, Kinberg, Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris. Singer and Lauren Shuler Donner are producing with Kinberg and Hutch Parker. It will begin shooting sometime this year.
