3 3/4" Marvel Universe Bullseye

3 3/4" Marvel Universe Bullseye

Jay Cochran - December 31, 2008

Package Description
Though he lacks superhuman abilities, BULLSEYE is far more dangerous than many powered individuals. His skill with thrown weapons is unsurpassed, and his fighting skills are equal to those of even the most highly trained ninjas in the world. He makes his living as a freelance assassin, a job he enjoys a great deal. Any edged or sharpened object instantly becomes a deadly weapon in his hands.
The packaging is average for a 3 ¾” figure. It is a little smaller than the packaging used for Hasbro’s G.I.Joe line. You can see the figure clearly on the cardback making it easy to inspect for paint flaws and displaying nicely on your wall if you wish to keep the figure in the package. There is a brief description on the back about the character. The art on the front is adequate but nothing spectacular.
The figure comes with a “Top Secret” envelope containing a card with the character’s general stats. There is also a S.H.I.E.L.D. psychiatric evaluation of the character in the envelope along with a special code you can use on the Hasbro’s website Furyfiles.com.

Appearance
For a 3 ¾” scale figure, the detail is pretty good. The bulls-eye and the white trim on his costume is very crisp and detailed. I don’t know if it was just a fluke with the figure I got but as you can see in the images, there are some issues with the paint on the figure’s face. The big white mark on his cheek is pretty glaring, but other than that I would say this figure looks very nice. The accessories are those you would with a G.I.Joe figure. This particular figure comes with a machine gun and a knife. The figure’s left had comes with two throwing cards sculpted into the hand. The hands do pop off, unfortunately Hasbro did not include any alternate hands to swap them with so your figure is stuck always holding the cards and can’t hold anything else in that hand. I would recommend that Hasbro’s future sculpts with something sculpted into the hand also include a regular hand to allow easy switches.

Articulation
Hasbro has done a fairly good job in this department. For a 3 ¾” figure, there are not too many other lines out there that seem to match this one. The figure can easily sit in vehicles like those made for G.I.Joe. The elbows bend without any problem. Compared to the Toy Biz 6” Marvel Legends Bullseye figure, the only place where the articulation is lacking is in the fingers which is very hard to do in a 3 3/”4 scale figure and in the chest joint which can’t bend quite as far down as the 6” version. Still compared to like most of the G.I.Joe figures Hasbro makes, I actually think this figure is little bit superior. Also the plastic used for the hands is much harder than those you typically find on G.I.Joe figures, allowing the figure to hold on to his weapon better.

Pose-ability
Bullseye has great pose-ability. The joints remain strong and tight after putting it in many different poses. The figure has a wide range of movements including ankle articulation. Again the biggest drawback with this particular figure is that he can’t do much with that left hand because of the sculpted cards in them.

Customizability
I’m no customizer, but this figure seems like it was made with customizers in mind. Most the parts of the figure parts pop right off and seem to be interchangeable with other figures in this line and some G.I.Joe 25th Anniversary figures as well. Basically I see a lot of potential for custom fodder for those collectors who love to make their own thing.

Final Judgment: 8
There a few issues with this figure like the sculpted cards in the hand and the one glaring paint issue on the face of this particular figure. I also think it would have been nice if they had included a figure stand with the figure for those who collect G.I.Joe, Your Joe stands do seem to be compatible with these figures. Other than that, I think this figure turned out great and if the rest of Hasbro’s 3 3/4” figures turn out this good, I think they just might have a big hit on their hands with Marvel fans.

What irritates me even more than them doing never before done versions like classic Black Panther, Ms. Marvel, MA Iron Fist, that many of us have been wanting in the 6" line for years.. Is that it looks like these have superior articulation compaired to all of the 6" female figures they've done as well as ones like Doc Samson, Adam Warlock and Black Bolt.

So are these showing up in the States yet? If so which stores are people finding them?

Nah, they come out in Spring.

What?! All the body parts pop off for easy 'customizing'?

Is this gonna be Superhero Showdown all over again?

I doubt it will be a problem unless somebody wants to smash it on the ground.

My Wolverine, Red Hulk wave, has his hand pop off every time i touch it.

not bad for a 3 3/4 fig. i agree with them needing to do like indy, and including extra hands.
