ElevenLabs has officially partnered with Stan Lee Universe to digitally replicate and license the late Marvel Comics legend's voice and likeness using artificial intelligence. The partnership with Stan Lee Universe—a joint venture managed by Kartoon Studios (formerly Genius Brands) and POW! Entertainment—places the creator's digital persona into ElevenLabs’ commercial and consumer platforms.
Lee's cloned voice, built from professional historical recordings, is available to license for commercial use on the ElevenLabs Iconic Marketplace. Additionally, the company announced Eleven Reader integration, where users can hear Lee's voice narrate text through the Eleven Reader app. This includes the "Stan Lee Book of the Month Club," which launches with Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island. Stan Lee’s visual likeness is also coming to the ElevenLabs Image and Video Marketplace, where users can generate comic-style panels and visual cameos featuring Lee's physical likeness.
The licensing structure distinguishes between public and business applications. Everyday creators can access Lee’s voice clones and visual templates for non-commercial, personal projects within strict platform guidelines. For major business uses, such as films, television, and advertisements, projects must be formally cleared and managed through Stan Lee Universe.
By adding Lee, ElevenLabs continues to build its vault of historic and iconic figures, which includes the estates of John Wayne, Judy Garland, and James Earl Jones.
If prior to his death, he signed something saying he gave his permission for his voice and likeness to be used like this, than so be it. That's his choice. This doesn't sound like that. Sounds like his estate made the decision and that's not right in my opinion. I can see something being done legally at some point to stop stuff like this from happening when a person's estate decides to do this, because Stan isn't the only one to have this done to them.
AI needs to be stopped. I loved Stan Lee, but its enough. Let others become the beloved cameo
Disgusting. AI in media should be ditched
Taking advantage of him at the end of his life wasn't quite enough, apparently. Now it goes on post-mortem.
grooooooosssssss gross gross gross. ew
I thought this was gonna be solely for MCU stuff, and that wasn't gonna sit right with me. But, just adds for bs? C'mon, that's just gross.
