Shown below is the official look at LEGO's new Captain Carter & The Hydra Stomper set based on the upcoming Disney+ What If series. This set along with the Marvel Infinity Saga Bro Thor's New Asgard we showed you the other day will be going up for pre-order on Target's website at 9am ET for their July collector event.

I have to admit I am surprised to see this set already since the What If series isn't set to premier until August, though we have seen promotional images for this episode already. There is a rumored Deluxe Marvel Legends version from Hasbro of this set also said to be in the works from Hasbro, so I wonder if we will be seeing that revealed in the near future as well.

The premise behind this set is that Peggy Carter ends up getting the super soldier serum instead of Steve Rogers. Peggy becomes Captain Carter and scrawny Rogers gets an Iron Monger like suit of armor to kick Hydra butt.

The set features the Hydra Stomper armor and 3 mini-figures (Captain Carter, Steve Rogers and Red Skull). Here is the official description.

LEGO® Marvel Captain Carter & The Hydra Stomper (76201) lets young Super Heroes aged 8+ recreate adventures from Marvel Studios’ What If...?, an original series on Disney+, taking the imaginative play to a whole new dimension.

New stories with iconic Super Hero characters
When iconic Marvel villain Red Skull steals the Tesseract, one of the most powerful objects in the universe, kids put Steve Rogers into The Hydra Stomper mech to get it back. The movable mech is highly posable, allowing kids to twist and turn the mechanical giant as it advances into battle, firing its 2 stud-shooters at Red Skull. This exciting expansion of the Marvel Cinematic Universe provides kids with endless, imaginative, Super Hero play possibilities.

-LEGO Marvel Captain Carter & The Hydra Stomper (76201) takes kids’ imaginative play to a whole new dimension, bringing to life Super Hero adventures from Marvel Studios’ What If...? Disney+ series.

-Includes Captain Carter, Steve Rogers and Red Skull minifigures, plus a buildable mech with an opening cockpit and 2 stud shooters.

-Kids place the Steve Rogers minifigure into the highly posable Hydra Stomper mech ready for battle with Marvel villain Red Skull, who has stolen the powerful Tesseract from Captain Carter.

-LEGO Marvel Captain Carter & The Hydra Stomper is a great gift for fans of Marvel Studios’ What If...? on Disney+ and Marvel-movie action aged 8 and up.

-The posable mech stands over 5 in. (15 cm) tall and features posable limbs. Perfect for dynamic play and display.

-There are more LEGO Marvel mechs for kids to collect and combine to bring Super Hero movie action to life and inspire never-ending imaginative stories of their own.

-LEGO components meet stringent industry standards to ensure they are reliable, compatible and connect and pull apart consistently every time – it’s been that way since 1958.

-LEGO components are dropped, heated, crushed, twisted and analyzed to make sure they meet rigorous global safety standards.

Wow. Lego really pushing thr envelope here. Can't believe it's a mech! I haven't seen a Lego MSH mech since the Sakaarian Iron Man mech they revealed almost 10 minutes before. Or the ludicrously bad Sentinel sized Iron Monger mech on June 1st. Or the twin pack of Spider-Man vs Dr Octopus mechs in May. Or the Thor, Morales and Cap mechs they did in January. Lego know this is all uninspired and boring crap. Kids know it's crap. And everyone knows people buy it for the minifigures.

Still, when Lego does horrifically bad sets like this I always look forward to seeing the defense, excuses and justifications fromLego's loyal army of uncritical, on-message YouTube 'reviewers'. So, when they say "It's an interesting choice for Lego to go with another mech, but it looks great value and has some amazing minifigures." What they should be saying is "These mechs suck. They constitute over half of Lego's 2021 offerring, they are horribly overpriced, totally out of scale and devoid of imagination and interest." But then, if they told the truth, no free Lego sets. Bless 'em.

Lol. Totally on target, but in their defense, everything they do look more or less robotic so mechs are pretty much their full time hustle. Are they completely fabricated outta thin air and totally nonsensical and useless? Let's ask ML's Hologram Iron Man what he thinks.

Lego knows its target audience is the mini fig collectors than they only throw in some building "accessories" to TRY to justify the ridiculous price. Its a bit easier with Star Wars cuz they can always do an awesome spaceship, but with Marvel, after Ghost Riders Hell Charger and Star Lord's spaceship, there's not much left. That's why they have to pull these kinda mech things straight outta their arises.

A little tip to the Mini Fig fans though, if you give it about a month's time, pretty much any Mini Fig ever done by Lego is easily available through any number of overseas exporters for a fraction of the cost, usually less than a dollar. And for all the brand supporters, yes, they are exactly the same. Its not rocket science. It's computer printed graphics on a generic block figure. And, in many cases, they come with accessories the Lego branded ones didn't. Why throw your undying support to a company that has zero qualms about gouging you for an extra buck?

Wonder if we'll get Watcher as a BAF. Liking that design and it looks fairly comic accurate.

I wonder how long itll be before we see reveals or leaks of the ML What If wave, now that LEGO and I think Funko has revealed theirs. Im still betting on this Sakaar Hulkbuster being the BAF.

While I'm not all that stoked about the amount alternate versions of characters that will undoubtedly be done in all our favorite toy lines before many much more deserving characters are properly represented, I did like the What If? series and have big hopes for this show. This is a cool looking set and an interesting arch, however, and acouple of the other rumored stories look really promising. This is a cool concept, thoughI just wonder how many characters, in the ML line in particular, will get displaced by all figures ofthese alternate characters that will surely come from this show.

I wouldn't mind as long as they aren't alternate version of characters who haven't gotten a ML toy before.
