The Origins Collection 1/6 War Machine Figure From Hot Toys

June 15, 2022
Introduced in Iron Man #118 comic in 1979, War Machine has proved himself a capable hero and loyal friend, someone who is reliable and faithfully patriotic throughout his comic run. He has assisted Tony Stark in countless near-death situations, put himself on the line to save the world, and eventually became a super hero on his own.

Returning to the original paint scheme inspired by the comic pages, Hot Toys is excited to bring War Machine as the new 1/6th scale diecast collectible figure with crystal armor to extend on The Origins Collection.

The highly detailed diecast War Machine figure based on his appearance in Marvel Comics features a newly developed helmet head with LED light-up function; sophisticated armor design in matte black and metallic silver; clear crystal armor covering upper chest to waist; LED light-up Arc Reactor on chest and palms; back-mounted weapons such as machine gun and rifle gun; also a figure stand.

This one is the best looking of this collection so far, and that's because it's the more accurate, and the clear bits aren't as distracting. I really wish Hot Toys would just re-release these down the line without the clear plastic. It's what is killing these figures for me.

Like I mentioned when Origins Iron Man was revealed, the dark grey spots on the gold limbs really made those parts look way too busy (making the whole figure way too busy), when they should've been relatively simple and less detailed to provide resting areas for the eye, to contrast with the more detailed red parts.

So, with those spots now colored the same as the areas they intrude on with this War Machine release, they're significantly less distracting and muddling of the design. Them being there as lines is still a bit much, but still, way better than Origins Iron Man in that respect.
