Ryan Gosling Confirms Ghost Rider Talks With Marvel

Ryan Gosling has confirmed that he has had discussions with Marvel Studios regarding the role of Ghost Rider, though he also has described the current status as a "complicated situation".

Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast on March 19, while promoting his film Project Hail Mary, Gosling addressed the long-standing rumors. When asked if he had met with Marvel boss Kevin Feige, Gosling responded, "Some discussions have been had". He noted that the situation is currently complicated but added, "We'll keep hope alive". Gosling stated his interest in the character is "just a feeling," humorously adding that he just wants to "set [his] face on fire".

Gosling first went on record about wanting to play the "Spirit of Vengeance" in 2022, explicitly debunking rumors at the time that he was being courted for the role of Nova in the MCU. He jokingly noted that his partner, Eva Mendes, appeared in the 2007 Ghost Rider film, saying, "I’m just happy one of us got to do it".

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has expressed strong mutual interest in the casting in the past. Feige told MTV News on the red carpet at 2022’s San Diego Comic-Con, "If Ryan wants to be Ghost Rider... Gosling's unbelievable... I'd love to find a place for him in the MCU".

Industry insiders suggest that "complications" may involve multi-film deal stipulations or scheduling conflicts with other major projects like his lead role in the upcoming Star Wars: Starfighter.

I still stand by the idea of Marvel saving money and getting actors closer to the characters ages by casting younger. Again, zero problem with Ryan as an actor. But he definitely isn't right for Danny Ketch! Dudes supposed to be what 19?

Because he dedicated himself to the role, doing motion capture, several hundred of variety of ways to say it and did the voice in EVERY language it was released in.

Oh he did do motion capture! for some reason I thought different, okay that adds to his worth in the role, still seems like a frivolous thing to have Vin be the character, but I mean his dedication seems nice.

Well that's just straight up the dumbest waste of money ever, I have no idea why they couldn't pay the grip or the set-dresser like 15 bucks an hour to say "i'm groot" stupid vanity casting ever, You wouldn't know it was Vin Diesel's voice, he's not even motion captured, never got the point, it's minorly infuriating, only thing is his name is credited..so who cares nobody would know if you didn't tell them it was Vin Diesel. Fire Vin and pay Ryan Gosling.

I have the same feeling, I don't think it will happen.

I would love it to, but generally when these high caliber actors are in "talks" to play a character in the MCU, it doesn't pan out, not sure why, I mean if someone like Ryan Gosling wants to play Ghost, and you are Disney/Marvel spend some money and get him, you can pay RDJ more money then the lord, sooooo.

Well ...... Vin Diesel and Groot. 100% cgi with only three words said each time.

I like Gosling, and Ghost Rider too, but not really sure they need a top money guy to play a character that will be CGI about 70% of the time. Get a younger up and comer if it's Danny, and an underrated chacter actor for Johnny. They really need to stop spending crazy money on the casts.

The rumor I read was that he was going to voice GR in the third Spiderverse cartoon. So, not sure of the validity of it, but maybe they wanna cast as both or just the voice to go along with the years of rumors and fan casting as they've taken to doing.

Ryan as Ghost Rider, either Johnny or Danny, would be so excellent, I mean Ryan is just a great actor, and I think he'd be perfect for the role, I sorta have a feeling this won't come to pass though, it would kinda be a dream if so though, one can hope.

I dont think Im familiar enough with GR to say how on point the cast is, but Gosling is kinda gold in everything he works on, even the silly (but accurate) Papyrus skits

Gosling as Ghost Rider? That is a perfect cast. Make. it. Happen. I don't care if it's Johnny or Danny just make it happen. No. he can't be Robbie as they already have the perfect actor for him.
