J.K. Simmons channeled his iconic Marvel character, J. Jonah Jameson, when he was hilariously confronted by a "fan" dressed as Spider-Man at a New York Mets game. The viral moment occurred on Tuesday night at Citi Field while the Mets were playing the Cincinnati Reds.
While attending the game, the Oscar-winning actor was featured on the stadium's big screen. He was wearing a Mets jersey, though he also wore a shirt repping his hometown Detroit Tigers underneath.
A fan, or possibly a marketing plant, sitting directly behind Simmons was hiding their face behind a custom-made copy of the Daily Bugle newspaper. The headline aptly read, "Masked Web-Slinger: A Citi Field Menace".
When the figure lowered the newspaper to reveal a full Spider-Man mask, Simmons turned around with a look of pure, comedic irritation. Channeling Jameson's classic hatred for the wall-crawler, he shook his fist angrily at the cosplayer and jokingly signaled to stadium security to have the "menace" thrown out of the ballpark.
