Spider-Man Brand New Day Continues to Break Records Heading into Second Weekend

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has shattered box office history, setting the all-time domestic opening weekend record at $360 million, becoming the fastest film to cross $500 million domestically (7 days), and passing Toy Story 5 to become the highest-grossing film of 2026 globally within just one week. As of Friday, the film has already crossed $1.21 billion worldwide.

Here�s a closer look at the major box office records the film has broken:

� All-Time Domestic Opening Weekend: Earned $360 million, beating Avengers: Endgame ($357.1 million).

� Highest-Grossing Previews: Brought in a historic $72 million to $74.5 million in preview screenings.

� Biggest Opening Day: Pulled in $168 million to $169 million on its first Friday alone.

� Fastest to $500M Domestic: Crossed the half-billion mark in just 7 days (surpassing Endgame's 8 days).

� Fastest Film of 2026 to $1 billion: Reached the global $1 billion milestone in 6 days, overtaking Toy Story 5 as the year's highest-grossing film.

� Single-Day Records: Set new record highs for a domestic Monday ($46 million) and Tuesday ($42 million).

Heading into its second weekend, the film is tracking for a massive $143 million domestic haul. Following its historic opening weekend, the film added $43 million on Friday alone across 4,487 North American theaters. A $143 million sophomore frame would place it only behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($149.2M) and Avengers: Endgame ($147.4M) for highest second domestic weekend ever.

The film's second-weekend hold is being heavily propelled by gaining select IMAX screens, which were previously held by Universal's The Odyssey.

I've pretty much stopped buying physical movies, but Disney won't get this for like 3 years or whatever cause of Sony. So I usually buy the Spidey movies. This one was so good, I just preordered the second I saw this.

Well deserved. This was not only the best MCU Spider-Man movie but the best live-action Spider-Man movie ever made. And for sure one of the best MCU movies since Endgame. I loved every minute of it and I really hope we get to see this turn into a new Tom trilogy. I'd love to see him complete his second trilogy before he transitions to Miles' mentor.

Spider-Man does some heavy lifting at the box office for it's opening weekend setting a new record at the box office by having the biggest opening weekend of any movie in history."Spider-Man: Brand New Day" brought in $360 million domestically over the weekend. The previous record holder was "Avengers: Endgame" which back in 2019 brought in $357 million (not adjusted for inflation).The previous 2021 Spider-Man: No Way Home movie brought in $260 million and 2018s Avengers: Infinity War brought in $257 million."Brand New Day" and "Endgame" are the only two movies to ever bring in more than $300 million on it's opening weekend.This seems to put a dent in any argument that says people are tired of Super Hero movies. I would say if you make a GOOD super hero movie with CHARACTERS people care about, they will come. That theory will further be put to the test when Avengers: Doomsday opens in theaters later this year on December 18.

Saw it today and loved it. It really got me in the feels quite a few times. Anytime a movie does that for me, it's winner in my books. The main story held together well and I really got into how the movie a lot of the time felt like the video game. There were a few things that bothered me but I'll wait for a spoiler post to voice them.

I just got back from watching and I thought it was really great. I agree that the stuff with Spidey and the Punisher were quite entertaining. The characters do seem very comfortable with each other and it's easy to accept they have a lot of history.
