Avengers: Doomsday Directors Tease More Secret Characters — Is Hulk Coming Back?

Marvel fans may want to keep their eyes peeled when Avengers: Doomsday finally hits theaters, because the superheroes already announced for the highly anticipated team-up may only be the beginning.

Directors Joe and Anthony Russo have confirmed that more characters and actors are involved in the film than Marvel has officially revealed — and their comments have fans wondering whether Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk could be making a comeback.

In an interview with Empire Online, Joe Russo addressed Bruce Banner’s connection to the story surrounding the villainous Doctor Doom.

“[Bruce Banner] is certainly involved in the story that revolves around Doom,” Russo said, while stopping short of confirming whether Ruffalo will actually appear in in the film. “We will not confirm nor deny his appearance in Doomsday.”

That carefully worded answer is hardly a confirmation, but it certainly leaves the door open for the Hulk to smash his way back into the MCU.

Anthony Russo offered another intriguing tease, revealing that some of the film’s cast remains under wraps.

“The farthest we can go is to say, there are characters and actors who have not been announced, who are a part of Doomsday,” he said.

The revelation comes as the Russos promote the theatrical re-release of Avengers: Endgame, which has returned to cinemas with four new post-credits scenes designed to help set the stage for Doomsday. The 2019 blockbuster has already earned roughly $2.8 billion worldwide, and its return has given Marvel fans another chance to revisit the story before the next Avengers chapter arrives.

Joe Russo has previously described Endgame as “required viewing” for audiences looking to follow the events of Doomsday.

With 31 Marvel characters already announced and more surprises apparently waiting in the wings, Avengers: Doomsday could have plenty of secrets left to reveal.

One thing is certain: Marvel isn't telling fans everything just yet.

Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to open in theaters on December 18.

It would be a surprise if the heroes defeat Doom and Secret Wars is nothing to do with him

That's like the bait-est article heading.

I mean are you guys dumb as a door knob, of course every and any ending is a surprise ending because we've never seen the movie.

I really feel like this is movie just needs to come and go already, it's nothing but droing on, with the manufactured hype train, it feels like we are in the MCU endzone, and the dire necessity to live up to the sales of previous films stench is strong, just stop, everyone is going to see the movie. Stop acting desperate, it's a sad look.

I very much like the idea of the witches being revealed to be characters like Clea and Wanda but also to find out that like the comics, Dr. Strange has been helping Doom.

One of my favorite conversations in my entire comic reading history is Strange being grilled by the surviving heroes about how he could do such a thing as help Doom, and his response is "It turns out Doom is very good at being God" Paraphrasing but yeah, it was amazing. It just blew me away that he wasn't mind controlled, or an alternate version or whatever. It was our Dr Strange, and he was onboard with the plan. It makes sense in the MCU too, because Strange better have some guilt over his major part in weakening the Multiverse in MOM and NWH.

I would like to get a beer with those two.

I feel like there would be a LOT of laughs.

I wonder if maybe these witches will play a role similar to the Swans in Hickmans build up to Secret Wars.

That was my thought as well.

could even be a version of the Invisible Woman as well...

Jessica Alba or Kare Mara could be cool but I think it's probably alt version of Scarlet Witch.

As they gave us Sue Storm's Malice in Legends form at this SDCC, this Latverian Witch (or one of the witches), could even be a version of the Invisible Woman as well...

I don't watch the MCU anymore, but that witch will make a nice figure.
