A huge return makes this episode a must see, and I don’t mean Mr. Charles (though he is back too). Overall, “Requiem” is a gripping installment filled with high-stakes action, emotional depth, and powerful character moments. The unraveling of Fisk’s empire and the citywide protests add urgency and complexity, but it’s the final action sequence that will stick with Daredevil fans for years to come.
Read below for our spoiler-heavy review:
The sixth episode of Season 2 opens with a harrowing sequence in the hospital, where Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin is confronted by the devastating loss of Vanessa. The moment is heavy with grief, but the show quickly reminds us of Kingpin’s ruthless nature. When a sympathetic doctor offers Fisk a hug, the gesture is met with a shocking act of violence—Kingpin crushes the doctor’s spine, killing him instantly. It’s a scene that sets the tone for the episode: raw emotion and brutality intertwine, pushing Fisk further into darkness.
As Vanessa’s funeral unfolds, Fisk appears in striking all-white attire surrounded by his loyal circle: Buck Cashman, Sheila Rivera, Heather Glenn, and Daniel Blake. Meanwhile, Matt Murdock and Karen Page keep watch over a wounded Bullseye.
Elsewhere, Mr. Charles and his crew discover their promised weapons gone, a clear sign that Kingpin has broken their deal. The episode cuts between the AVTF relocating the weapons and Fisk laying a rose on Vanessa’s casket, emphasizing the shifting allegiances and ongoing chaos.
A standout moment comes in the suburbs, where a young girl’s quiet playtime is shattered by armed intruders. Her mother fiercely defends their home, and in an explosive reveal, Jessica Jones makes her return to the series! Her comeback is both thrilling and heartfelt, as she protects her daughter Danielle and showcases her signature grit.
Back in New York, Soledad Ayala tends to Bullseye and debates with Daredevil and Karen about his fate. The conversation highlights the moral complexity of the show, as Karen contemplates whether Bullseye deserves death or imprisonment. Angela Del Toro updates Karen on the city’s unrest, with Vanessa’s death leaving a trail of mourning and suspicion.
Matt seeks updates on Cristofi, and Karen recalls Bullseye’s infamous attack at Clinton Church. The ongoing tension between Matt and Karen is palpable, especially as Karen questions whether Matt should finally take down Fisk permanently. The episode expertly explores the emotional toll of their battles and the blurred lines between justice and vengeance.
Political intrigue ramps up as Governor McCaffrey discusses her concerns about Fisk with Sheila and hints at a possible mayoral run (teased in the Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer). The show continues to weave in multiple storylines, adding layers of depth to the city’s power struggles.
Personal drama unfolds as BB tries to cheer up Daniel on his birthday, but the mood is somber. Buck’s suspicion that BB might be leaking information leads to a plan to test her loyalty, ratcheting up the paranoia among Fisk’s inner circle.
Fisk’s world grows increasingly chaotic, with Mr. Charles furious about the missing guns and protests erupting outside. The tension between criminal enterprises and public unrest is building to a boiling point.
The partnership between Daredevil and Jessica Jones is a highlight, as Jessica’s anger over her daughter’s safety drives her to investigate Fisk’s government connections. Their teamwork leads to a fierce showdown at the AVTF warehouse. Together, Daredevil and Jessica Jones bring a head-on assault against the AVTF, with Jessica’s powers fluctuating under pressure. The action sequences are intense and well-choreographed, ending with explosive consequences as the warehouse is left in flames.
The episode also explores Heather Glenn’s trauma from her encounter with Muse, as she confides in Buck. This emotional moment adds nuance to the supporting cast and shows the lingering impact of violence.
BB and Blake’s birthday meeting reveals the ongoing strain of citywide raids and a calculated attempt to plant false news about Fisk’s political future. The interplay of personal relationships and political machinations keeps the narrative compelling.
Officer Powell and Cole North confirm Jessica’s involvement in the warehouse attack. Meanwhile, Karen faces a moral crisis as Bullseye confesses Vanessa ordered the hit on Foggy. Karen nearly kills Bullseye, but Daredevil intervenes, further straining their relationship and underscoring the show’s commitment to exploring ethical dilemmas.
The protests escalate across New York, and BB and Daniel find solace in a quiet family dinner. Daniel’s suspicions about BB lead to a tense confrontation over the SD card he finds and the risks everyone faces.
As protestors don Daredevil masks, Governor McCaffrey receives a late-night visit from Mr. Charles, who offers solutions to her City Hall troubles. The political stakes are higher than ever.
Karen, disguised, joins the protest as Fisk learns the Governor has withdrawn her support. In a dramatic sequence, Karen broadcasts prisoner testimonials on the city’s buildings, exposing Fisk’s crimes. The Kingpin sneaks out through a secret exit as the call to resist resonates throughout the city.
The emotional climax sees Kingpin alone with Vanessa’s painting, only to be confronted by Daredevil. Their conversation is fraught with regret and unresolved conflict, leading to a brutal, cathartic fight. The battle destroys the painting and sees Daredevil strangling Fisk, symbolizing the destructive cycle between hero and villain.
Outside Powell’s actions take a dark turn as he kills the “traitor” Saunders and blames protestors, escalating violence against them.
The end of the fight between Daredevil and Kingpin is intense, with Fisk nearly beating Matt into submission before Daredevil turns the tables and knocks Kingpin out. It’s a satisfying pay-off for the season’s simmering conflict.
As the AVTF attacks protesters, Karen, Angela, and Javi are caught in the violence. Fisk, battered but unbowed, taunts Daredevil about his inability to arrest or kill him, cementing the crux of their rivalry.
The episode closes with Powell identifying Karen and taking her prisoner, setting the stage for a dramatic showdown ahead.

unfortunately you were wrong
the nanny is Squirrel Girl!
I did not care for the ending at all! There is no such thing as renouncing your citizenship and going into exile. Especially if you commit murder. Plus what happened to Buck? After he was shot he just seemed to disappear. Then no mention at all about him! It's like the episode wasn't even finished. That script writer needs to be fired! Lots of plot holes leftover. One of them was the governor only having Jessica Jones as body guard. Governor's usually have their own state police personal guards.
Havn't watched the recent episode, but one thing I do truly wish is that the next season we can get a new villain, as much as I love the DD/Kingpin war, and really think Vincent is so stand out as Wilson, I am growing a bit tired of the dynamic, and think it would be really great to move on, How about Mister Fear, how about Coyote? I'd like to see him face off against a less political foe.
I hear the rumour is after Season 3 they will conclude Born again with potentially a feature film. So make it big.

Weird that they're humanizing all these villains, giving them all these sweetheart moments, but then only giving Matt busy work and depression. The show is kind of shallow so I'm hoping getting some new supes into the mix will make things more interesting.
I agree with the villain problem. Hollywood writers just don't seem to get bad guys. They make everyone a Byronic Hero. Everyone is grey. Now that Is realistic, but some bad guys just need to be evil. Super hero stuff is partially a moral fantasy where good is good and bad is bad. Where some villains are really grey, we do need some to be pure evil. Red Skull for instance. They just never give us really scary, unsettling villains.

Yeah, this episode spent way too much time on the flashbacks for my liking. I just wanted them to get on with the main story.
Personally felt like this episode was a bit of a filler. Lots of flashbacks explaining things we already understand about characters. 2 episodes in a row of Fisk yelling in anguish for the last scene. All the stuff with Matt and Bullseye was good. Overall I do feel like I'm still waiting for them to catch up with where last season left off, "I need to find some friends". Ok, so do it! Not to sound super negative, I am enjoying the season, and the Bulleye "New York State of Mind" scene will be one of the most comic booky iconic things I've seen in any show. I've rewatched it literally like 15 times already. Once this storyline is done, we really need a break from Bullseye and Fisk, he has more villains than that guys. Let's get weird with Mr Fear or Owl. Or just down and dirty with Gladiator or the Hand for an episode or something. Some crossover with Batroc or the "Serpent Society" from other movies would be pretty nice too.
