D23 Reveals Several Spider-Man Project Updates

Spider-Man swung into D23 on Saturday, with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, Spider-Man: Brand New Day star Jacob Batalon and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man showrunner Jeff Trammell taking the stage to celebrate 65 years of the iconic Marvel superhero.

Tom Holland was not on hand for the presentation, but the actor appeared in a video message for fans. “Playing Peter Parker is my dream, and getting to live that dream has been one of the greatest privileges of my career,” Holland said.

The presentation also delivered a surprise tied to Brand New Day. Holland and director Destin Daniel Cretton will sit down for an interview that will appear in the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man #1000, a milestone issue arriving in September. The oversized comic will pit Spider-Man against Ravage, described as the hero’s first new fear-inducing and formidable villain in decades. The issue will also mark Fargo and Alien: Earth creator Noah Hawley’s debut as a comic book writer.

On the animation front, Disney+ offered a first look at Season 2 of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, which is set to debut in January 2027. The new season will introduce Gwen Stacy and Eddie Brock. The trailer also teased a chaotic gala attack by Doc Ock, who kidnaps Harry Osborn following a brief clash with Spider-Man.

Things take an even darker turn later in the footage, when Spider-Man is exposed to Venom’s symbiote, setting up a potentially major transformation for the young hero.

Disney Junior also had its own Spidey news. Alyssa Sapire, head of Disney Junior Original Programming, confirmed that Spidey and His Amazing Friends has been renewed for a seventh season. The announcement came alongside a first look at Spidey and the Avengers: Halloween Team-Up, as well as the casting of musicians Este Haim and Patrick Stump as the villains Hallows Eve and Jack O’Lantern, respectively.

With the year’s biggest film, an expansive animated universe and a milestone comic on the horizon, Spider-Man’s 65th-anniversary celebration made clear that the web-slinger remains one of Marvel’s busiest heroes.
