Spider-Noir Canceled After One Season

September 5, 2026
Prime Video has officially canceled the live-action superhero series Spider-Noir after one season. The surprising move comes even though the Nicolas Cage-led Marvel series drew strong reviews, high viewership, and a leading 11 Emmy nominations—more than any other Prime Video program this year.

Despite its success—reportedly reaching 2.6 billion minutes viewed in its first six weeks and holding a 92% Rotten Tomatoes score—industry insiders cite changing streaming priorities as a likely factor.

The eight-episode series was costly to produce because of its star-studded cast, including Brendan Gleeson and Lamorne Morris, dual color and black-and-white viewing formats, and premium visual effects. In today’s streaming market, high production costs and brief runs on global Top 10 charts can outweigh critical praise and award recognition.

The cancellation was announced one day before the 2026 Creative Arts Emmys weekend, where the series is competing for 11 awards, including production design, prosthetic makeup, and visual effects.

Although Spider-Noir has come to an end, the partnership between Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television continues. The studios are reportedly developing several live-action projects based on Sony’s Marvel characters, including one secret project nearing a formal series order.

Its too bad they're abandoning it. I too had some issues with some of the music; also thought this version of Spider-Man wouldn't be web-swinging his way through the city as much. Just seems a more "grounded", noir type would be more, well, grounded. No pun intended. Anyway, I thought they had something here and its unfortunate they're choosing not to go forward.

Honestly don't know why it wouldn't work. Maybe user error, but idk I saw a lot of reddit chatter of other people having issues getting it to work. I just don't know why it wasn't a simple two icons. One for color, and one for B&W. Easy. D+ figured it out.

Yeah I did hear as well a lot of people saying they had trouble with it, but weirdly enough it was so easy for me and yeah there was two icons, you could even switch mid episode , go figure, stupid technology...eek don't let A.I. hear me. I don't need to start judgment day.

Lol I didn't seem to have any trouble with the Black & White and Color toggling, and it was never not available,

I, overall, liked the show. Brendan Gleeson was great, and the dude who played Sandman was really a standout as well. Not bothered by it being Ben Reilly. I Do agree about the music in general, and in all shows and movies that are set in a time period. The theme song in particular was obnoxious. I was just having this discussion last night about the amount of shows that I watched and remember nothing about except the theme song. And, how many shows were popular largely based on a great opening song. This show, however, wasn't one of those. I would say it was worth finishing, but I don't think your life will be better or worse depending on doing so. I don't know if they even intended a second season, where they were thinking of going. My main problem was the whole B&W/color thing. Werewolf by Night made it really easy to choose one and watch it. This had something going on that my service or TV or whatever couldn't do. I was never able to watch in B&W. Now I heard it was cause Paramount+ got it first, (who still has that horrid streaming service?) and I had a free weekend of Prime to just slam through it. So not sure if it woulda worked later or not, but still I think it would have been better in black and white for the feel.

Wait I don't remember even what the Sandman guy looked like anymore, Oh goodness, I remember a Sandman, but I can't even conjure up what he looked like, I don't even remember the theme song for this show, I probably never heard it, I have a tendency to skip those things, I mean ya I also figured this show really wasn't must watch material, more hey do you wanna watch it? so watch it, if not You'll be fine, hence why I haven't been compelled to get back to it, yet, I will I will.

Lol I didn't seem to have any trouble with the Black & White and Color toggling, and it was never not available, I however watched it in Color, because I tried watching the first episode in B&W and I felt like my old eyes were missing things, it did give more vibes though, but I color felt less straining to me.

anyways, farewell Spider-Noir, thanks for trying.

I still need to finish it. I got sidetracked with RL stuff and I kind of lost track of what was going on. I made the mistake trying to watch it while I was somewhat tired which didn't help. I enjoyed Cage's performance.

Yeah I kind of had the same problem. I was already tired when I tried watching it and fell off. I don't want to say it was anything to do with the show itself. It seemed very much like a slow burn kind of show as it was. What I do remember is I kind of fell off around the nightclub scene myself.

Lol we do know that the Cat Hardy first appearance and song, is literally Episode 1 , You couldn't have nodded out and given up that early!

I don't feel so ashamed about my constant falling asleep now, I made it further then you! at least I started falling asleep in Episode 5.

but no the Black Cat character did make me turn it off, I had to stop after she starting doing her stupid song, and I didn't want to look at her, It was so cliche, Just stop the gazing GoD, why do I have to be subjected to the stupid Gazing and objectifying, and bad non accurate to time period song.

I hit pause for a while and ate a popsicle and then fast forwarded to when the stupid song was over! take that stupid song and dumb oh look at the pretty love interest scene, NO.

Also I mean you kinda miss the point if you are a Spider-Man show that's not about peter parker, and it's a slow burn. Nobody wants that.

Yeah I didn't even think for a second this show was going to get a 2nd season, I was sure from the beginning this was a one season show, but I guess anything is possible, but I;m also not surprised it only got one season, I mean knowin Nic Cage and his work schedules, he's probably got 18 movies on the burner right now, and no time to double back around to a 2nd season of Spider-Noir, although that being said his main priority is getting a pay cheque, and he did love this character, who knows the real reason behind the cancellation, but I mean in this day and age everything on streaming is so disposable, and attention spans are basically cooked, everyone just moves on and starts staring at their phone in the end.

I know personally, I didn't even finish this show, I wanted to watch it and always ment to come back to it, but I got to episode 5 and I tried to watch it 3 times and I fell asleep everytime, I do have a falling a sleep in front of the TV problem, so that's on me, Like I remember it taking me 6, yes 6 sessions to get through Rebel Ridge recently and it's not like I didn't like it. so that' showcases my problem LOL, anyways I also had a few things I didn't love about Spider-Noir off the jump, that just kinda turned me off, as soon as Nic Cage got in that Night club and we had to listen to some extremely contemporary, sultry suxed up Felicia Hardy song, I was like...Ugh this is so Cringe, like music didn't sound like that then, and why do I have to stare at this chick, I get the point, she's such a babe and is so hawt and Nic cage is googley over her, Ugh Stop, I don't care let's move on (I didn't care for the actress either), Also Sorry instantly it was hard for me to not have a few inside chuckles at how weird and pin-backed yet grizzled Nic Cage was, like dude just got some work done and looked a bit uncanny, Also the supporting characters didn't do a lot for me, I love Cameron Britton he was awesome as Kemper in Mind Hunters, but here he was kinda throw-away, however Brendan Gleeson is good in everything, he was my fav part, but also..is he just too good for this?

anyways I'll continue watching at some point, I'm just busy, not watching this LMaO.

These services just aren't willing to let anything build anymore. Everything can't be a huge hit right away. They did botch the roll out with the B&W not being available right away for everyone. I personally was never able to get it. It was good though. Also, not sure what kind of story they'd have for a second season.

I couldn't watch it in B&W due to whatever on my Prime. Not sure why they couldn't have just had two different icons to click like WWBN does. Way easier than a 10 second prompt that may or may not show up. We never got the option on the bottom of the screen to change it back and forth from color to B&W. Show was great though. Gleeson did an amazing job as Silvermane!

That's odd, I thought there were different icons for the different versions. I'll check out the color version but I'm partial to the b&W; the show was very very well done. I'm a big pulp fan (the Shadow, Doc Savage, Miss Fury, The Avenger, Zorro, the Rocketeer etc) so this was right up my alley. I DID note that some of the music wasnt quite proper for the era, but that didnt spoil the show. Ah! How I wish hasbo could do Marvel's Mystery Men figures!!
