Amazon MGM Studios is nearing a green light for a new television series based on Marvel Comics’ Spider-Man Clone Saga,
according to Deadline.
The potential Prime Video series would focus on Spider-Man clones Ben Reilly and Kaine Parker. The project is being developed by Kelvin Yu, creator of
American Born Chinese.
Representatives for Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television declined to comment.
The series would follow
Spider-Noir, which Prime Video canceled this month after one season. The series starred Nicolas Cage as Ben Reilly, whose superhero identity was the title character. In the comics, however, Spider-Man Noir is an alternate version of Peter Parker. The television adaptation changed the character's identity as part of the rights arrangements surrounding the project.
Plot details for the new series remain limited, and sources caution that the eventual adaptation could differ substantially from the comics.
In Marvel's comics, Ben Reilly is a Spider-Man clone who eventually adopts the superhero identity Scarlet Spider. His name combines the first name of Peter Parker's Uncle Ben with the maiden name of Aunt May. Kaine Parker is an earlier, physically flawed clone of Peter Parker.
The original Clone Saga is known for one of its most controversial story developments: Ben Reilly was temporarily revealed to be the "real" Spider-Man, while Peter Parker was identified as the clone. The storyline was later reversed following a strong backlash from readers.
The new series is part of a broader agreement between Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television to develop multiple television projects based on Sony's Marvel-related intellectual property. The slate is primarily focused on characters connected to the Spider-Man universe.
Like
Spider-Noir, the proposed series is expected to receive a linear debut on Amazon's MGM+ before becoming available to stream on Prime Video.
Amy Pascal, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, who oversee Sony's Spider-Man television universe and executive produced
Spider-Noir, are expected to executive produce the new series alongside Yu.

Madame Web, how about just about everything since Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 3, , Amazing Spider-Man 2, Venom 2-3, Morbius, Kraven. with only two things sorta being fine Amazing Spider-Man 1 (which was only fine) and Spider-Noir..These guys are far from reliable and hardly someone I have any confidence in redeeming, even if they can pull of something good, they have such a weak track record that they'd release 2 good things then 6 bad things. I Don't count the Spider-Verse movies because those are kinda their own thing, nobody say "but those are excellent"
I think this could be good. Definitely better than Spider-man villains in solo movies.
(PS Black Cat could have been good solo movie if they follow the animated Spider-man story)
Spider heroes? If Spider Noir taught them anything then that would be great!
A Spider Gwen/ Ghost Spider & Miles Morales Spider-Man could be great.
Do they have access to Spider-woman Jessica Drew?
They need to redeem themselves because of the Madame Web fiasco.
Ben Reilly and Kaine are exactly the kind of characters they should be exploring. If these guys look and feel like their comic counterparts, and the story doesn't suck, I'm for it. Would really like if the Jackal shows up here.
I really wonder about specifics, are they gonna make it work without Peter Parker, will they just imply there's a "Spider Hero" and not Spider-Man and they are his clones but they are also happen to be far removed from NYC for some reason. Sometimes limitation do help, but sometimes such limitations can make story non sensical.
I have little faith in this, so I'm fine, thanks. Sony back-up, thinking you got wind in your sail since you made an okay thing, you know how this will go, but feel free to feebly attempt to prove me wrong.
