2016 SDCC - The Women Of Marvel Legends, Where Do They Fit In???

Jay Cochran - July 27, 2016
This past weekend Hasbro teased a number of upcoming 6" Marvel Legends female figures. The figures teased include Dark Phoenix, Classic Mary Jane Watson, Invisible Woman with H.E.R.B.I.E. and Monica Rambeau (Photon/Spectrum). They didn't say when or exactly how these figures would be released. So that got us speculating, could we be seeing an All-Female Marvel Legends boxset in the works here, maybe titled something like "The Women Of Marvel Legends"?

If not a boxset then our money is on them being exclusives, most likely going to Walgreens. In the last few years the trend has been to release Walgreens exclusive figures that are tied to specific waves released at general retail. This year we saw Namor which was tied to a Captain America based assortment and the upcoming Jim Lee style Punisher which will be tied to Spider-Man. We could see the Mary Jane figure tied to the new wave of Spider-Man figures that were announced at comic con. Photon would go with the newly announced Guardians of the Galaxy wave and Dark Phoenix would go with the new newly announced X-Men wave. That would leave Invisible Woman as the odd woman out, perhaps being release in some kind of special Fantastic Four boxset or wave.

All this of course is just speculation, and we likely won't have the answers till New York Comic Con in October or next Fabruary's Toy Fair. Still it gives you something to think about.
