D23 Expo isn't even cold yet and Disney has already decided to fire their whole marketing department. Disney gave a pink slip to Dana Precious, EVP of Worldwide Marketing for Marvel’s LA Studios, Jeffrey Stewart, VP of Worldwide Marketing and Jodi Miller, Manager of Worldwide Marketing.
According to
Deadline,
'Rob Steffens, who is Marvel Studios’ EVP Operations, met with all of the department at the Manhattan Beach offices in what was described as a “Disney Rules of the Road” meeting. He told staff that there would be no house-cleaning by the mouse, period, so they were not to fear for their jobs and flee en masse. So much for that promise.'
Disney is taking over the handling and release of "The Avengers" and any future Marvel movies and Kevin Feige will continue supervision of all things Marvel.
'Insiders have said that Precious and her team were not well-loved by Marvel bigwig Feige and other top execs at Marvel or by Disney and Paramount.'
Personally, you have to love companies that decide to use their employees for publicity and popularity and then release them the next day. The D23 Expo was this past weekend and Disney/Marvel had a huge panel for "The Avengers." Shows over and so are these peoples jobs. Another example... Frank Darabont, creator and director of "The Walking Dead" for AMC. AMC has a big panel for "The Walking Dead" at the San Diego Comic-Con and once the show was over, so was his job.
