Unfortunately not a lot of new information was forthcoming from Hasbro at Toy Fair on what we can expect for their 3rd wave of 2012 6" Marvel Legends figures. We learned a new
Mystique figure would be joining the line-up along with
Blade and
USAgent which were announced back in October during the New York Comic Con. We the media got a quick look at a slide showing the Mystique figure but, were not allowed to photograph it, and for what ever reason Hasbro did not release it for public viewing.
Presumably these 3 would also be joined by a
Moonstar figure which was also announced at New York Comic-con, but not mentioned here at Toy Fair. Knowing that each wave includes 7 figures (not including variants or the Build-A-Figure) that would mean we have 3 unknowns yet to be announced for the wave.
UPDATE: MarvelousNews Moderator Tarot chimes in with a interesting observation. The Mystique shown at Toy Fair came with a lot of guns as does the image of Moonstar Hasbro choose to show at NYCC. Could one be a variant for the other??? Of course now that we think about it, Punisher could make for a easy variant of Blade as well.
Possible candidates could include a
Punisher,
Jim Lee version of Jean Grey,
Stryfe and
Archangel. All characters announced at New York Comic Con by Hasbro as getting the Marvel Legends treatment in 2012, but not confirmed for any particular wave. If any combination of these were selected for wave 3, we could be seeing a Marvel Knights/Mutants combo line. Ok USAgent was never part of the Marvel Knights line but he sure would have fit in with it. As for the Build-A-Figure and variants for wave 3, we have no word what-so-ever, could it be another Mutant character? Only time will tell.
It was also revealed at Toy Fair that a
Hyperion figure would be made for the Marvel Legends line, but that one wouldn't be showing up till sometime in 2013.
The strangest thing about Hasbro's unwillingness to reveal more details for wave 3 is that the next convention/event where they typically reveal product information isn't until July, with the San Diego Comic Con. Wave 2 is already starting to trickle out at stores, so does that mean we won't see wave 3 till sometime after July??? Seems like an awful big gap between waves if that is the case. Hasbro did say that sales for the initial re-launch of Marvel Legends was extremely good, which of course is a good sign and bodes well for future waves, assuming sales hold steady or continue to grow.
