Deadline is reporting that Twilight screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg hooked up with ABC three years ago to create a drama series on Marvel's Jessica Jones character. Rosenberg is still attached to the project but now on Netflix as being a writer and executive producer on the new series.
The Jessica Jones is the second series to be release, following Daredevil These are two series out of a four series deal sold by Marvel TV and ABC TV Studios that was sold to Netflix last week. The other two series in the package are Iron Fist and Luke Cage, with the characters from each show then coming together for an Avengers-type superhero teaming in a chapter-closing miniseries.
Source claim that the Jessica Jones storyline will be redeveloped before moving to Netflix. The character, created by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos, is
'a superhero suffering with post-traumatic stress disorder, which leads to her hanging up her costume and opening her own detective agency, where she ends up helping people and assisting other superheroes.'
