Marvel Legends - What We Know After #NYTF 2019

After every major convention event where tons of info gets thrown at you over the course of multiple days we always try to do a recap to make sure the best we can you're all caught up with information. So now that the 2019 New York Toy Fair has come to an end, lets go over what we know for Hasbro's Marvel Legends line.

We already know the first waves of 2019 which includes the second Black Panther movie assortment as well as the Captain Marvel Kree Sentry Build-A-Figure and Spider-Man Kingpin Build-A-Figures are on shelves now. The 6" Hydra Supreme & Arnim Zola Figure 2-Pack has also already hit shelves.

The Walgreens exclusive Mystique and Target exclusive Captain Marvel in Starforce outfit figures have already been released overseas and should soon be out here in the US followed by the Walmart Captain Marvel Binary Form figure. The Rider Series Professor X and Deadpool with Scooter have also hit in Canada and again should start seeing release here in the US any day now.

The next wave due out likely will be the first wave of Marvel Legends themed Avengers figures which will be a mix of comic book based and Avengers: Endgame figures. This wave should be out towards the end of March. We know the comic book based figures for this wave will include Citizen V, Living Laser, Hercules, Nighthawk and Avengers: Infinity War Ebony Maw.

As for the Endgame movie figures, there a number of RUMORS floating around such as Captain America, Ronin and a armored Thanos for the Build-A-Figure. Hasbro is embargoed from talking about Endgame so we will likely see the figures leak out onto shelves before we actually get any kind of confirmation from Hasbro on these.

Following the Avengers wave should be a couple of Target Exclusive 2-Packs which are slated with April 21, 2019 release dates. The Kraven Last Hunt 2-pack we first saw back during the New York Comic Con with repainted Kraven The Hunter and Symbiote Spider-Man figures as well as the recently announced Spider-Man: Homecoming 2-Pack with MJ and Spider-Man with sports blazer.

Both these sets went up for pre-order on the Target website but are currently listed as sold out.

After that expect to see the first wave of X-Men figures for 2019 hit shelves. These are due out in May (though we will likely see them out earlier) and will include Skullbuster, Jim Lee Style Jubilee, Blink, Forge, Weapon X, Jim Lee style Beast and Gambit. The Build-A-Figure for this wave will be Caliban. This wave went up for pre-order this past weekend at places like Megalopolis.Toys.

While we don't know for sure, we suspect the next things we will see hit shelves will be the first X-Force wave of 2019 and second Spider-Man wave. We know the X-Force wave will include Guardian, Boom Boom with gum (gum not shown), Cannonball with blast effect, Nightcrawler with non-bendy-wire tail and Mr. Sinister. There should be two more figure announced for this wave and we suspect the Build-A-Figure will be Mr. Sinister. One of the final figures for this wave which strangely was not mentioned this weekend might be the Wendigo we saw last year at the Canadian Fan Expo, though that seems like a Build-A-Figure candidate as well.

Honestly I totally forgot about Wendigo during the Hasbro Toy Fair event or I would have asked them about it there. Also I know some are annoyed about Cannonball not having actual legs. I saw nothing indicating alternate legs would be included with the figure, but I also did not actually confirm with Hasbro he would not include them. Lets hope Hasbro does add legs with the figure along with the blast effect piece.

For the second wave of Spider-Man based figures we know for sure that this wave will include two figures from the new Spider-Man: Far From Home movie with Spider-Man in his updated regular suit and Stealth Suit Spider-Man. For comic figures we will see Classic Julia Carpenter Spider-Woman, Doppelganger Spider-Man, Hydro-Man with removable puddle feet and alternate water arms and Scorpion with 13" bendy wire tail and new sculpt. There is likely 2 more figures for this wave yet to be revealed. My guess is at least one will be a movie figure of Mysterio, but we will have to see. If any of the figures that have already been revealed for the wave are the Build-A-Figure, the likely candidate would be Hydro-Man.

We could also conceivably see the second Avengers themed wave hit around this time as well which will likely be during that summer time frame. This wave we know will include the Black Panther Movie Shuri as well as comic book based figures of Loki, Beta-Ray Bill, Union Jack and Serpent Society member Rock Python. It's unknown if this will be a six figure wave plus Build-A-Figure or 7 figure wave plus Build-A-Figure. If we go by last year's Avengers figures as an indicator then it would be a six figure wave which would mean the two figures left to reveal, one of which being the Build-A-Figure, that I am guessing will be Endgame based.

For the Marvel Legends Rider Series look for World War II Ultimates Captain America with motorcycle.

For fans of the Premium Role Play line, look for a new Ant-Man helmet which will feature 2 LED light modes and will have an adjustable fit option.

There is also another Deadpool Nerf blaster coming to Gamestop which will be done in grey X-Force colors.

Besides the normal Marvel Legends waves, their will be several sub-lines released this year. Continuing in the tradition of last year's Toy Biz tribute wave to the classic 5" figures, they will now do a tribute wave for the classic Toy Biz 5" X-Men figures as well. This wave will include 6 figures, 4 of which were revealed this past weekend. Those where Cyclops in blue and white X-Factor outfit and optic blast effect, Patch (Wolverine), Silver Samurai and Dazzler in 90's blue outfit.

These will come in special cardbacks re-creating the packaging from the old Toy Biz line.

There will also be an extension for last year's MCU 10th Anniversary line. Same thing minus the 10th Anniversary logo since it would now be the 11th Anniversary. This will feature Captain America: The First Avenger Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter which will see release as a Amazon exclusive. Avengers: Infinity War Loki and Corvus Glaive which will be released as a Walmart exclusive.

Then for General release we will see Avengers: Infinity War Iron Man Mark 50 with floating cannons, shield and arm cannons, along Iron Spider-Man with mechanical arms. For Thor Ragnarok look for 2-Packs of an updated Hela with Scourge and Grandmaster with Korg. Finally for Ant-Man and the Wasp look for a 2-pack featuring The Ghost and Louis (Michael Pena) with shrunk down Pym building.

The final sub-line for the year will be celebrating 80 years of Marvel comics and feature 2-Packs of 1st Appearance Wolverine with Hulk and Juggernaut with Jim Lee style Colossus. Juggernaut will come with an alternate beat up face headsculpt and cracked helmet. Single packs for this lines will include Alex Ross versions of Iron Man, Thor and Captain America with sculpted chainmail. Cap will be released as a Walmart exclusive. These will come in special packaging featuring comic book artwork on it.

If that all wasn't enough, a few additional store exclusives have been announced which includes an Amazon exclusive Brotherhood of Evil Mutants 3-pack featuring Magneto, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. This is currently available for pre-order with a release date of 7/1/19 listed.

For Walgreens we will see the Infamous Iron Man (Dr. Doom) and Emma Frost in black outfit released later this year.

So that's it for now. We still have no word on what this years San Diego Comic Con exclusive will be or if Hasbro will do anything for Haslab. There is also a number of additional reveals that will come during SDCC and other conventions towards the end of the year. Is you wallet ready and what are you looking most forward to? Also, arethe around-the-eyes blast effecton the vintage wave Cyclops figure non removable for both of his interchangeable heads?

If so, I'm surprised there hasn't been any criticism from fans. Having at least one head completely neutral seems like the better choice.

I have criticized the head. Especially since it looks like the second head has the effects, just smaller than on the main head. A head without the effects would be handy with those that don't have the room to have their figures all posed in action poses.

I don't get the complaining about the figure with no legs. It would be a little boring to just have it standing there instead of rocketing up or forward.

Yes he looks cooler rocketing forward, but like I said for the above quote, the option is nice. If room doesn't allow for it, everyone standing in neutral poses while he rockets overhead looks off.

Great coverage as usual, @JayC!

There are a few points I'd like to comment on:

- I never considered Sinister or Hydro Man would be a BAF (actually Hydro Man could make sense what with interchangeable watery parts)

- Do we know if that shirt is removable on the 80th Anniversary Hulk?

- Colossus is listed as Jim Lee version, which is incorrect. He's in his Cockrum/Byrne costume. Did the Jim Lee categorization come from Hasbro or perhaps he was incorrectly named on social media sites?

Regardless, this year is going to be a strong year for Legends and look forward to picking up about twenty of them.

I'm not a big fan of extra heads that are not too different from each other. For example that Jubilee head, it looks like both heads have removable sunglasses andJubilee's expressions are identical. Is the only difference the gum? They should've given one of the heads a short bob-cut similar to her Generation X 'do. It's kinda nit-picky I know but it's a missed opportunity, IMO.

With the classic Cap, Thor, and Iron Man, I wouldve loved to see a classic Spider-Man, even if it was a retoolingof the pizza Spidey

I really like that new Loki but don't care for Corvus Glaive. Here's hoping there's a lot of people who want Corvus Glaive but are sick of Loki and doesn't want another Loki.

Really liking the Captain America/Peggy Carter 2 pack.
