Since the Spider-Man comes with the removed mask he can hold, I used my old chameleon head and it works great for anybody that wants to go that route.
The red and blue on this Spidey looks excellent and I prefer this physique for him also. And they didn't give him a fat belt like the Amazing Fantasy/Friends Spideys which is nice. But, while the downgraded torso doesn't really bug me, it's still kind of a bummer he didn't get the updated one. And the peg hole on his back is wack and so are the spider's legs painted onto the butterflies.... what a bad idea ha. And my other gripe is that they keep not applying the black border outline between the blue and red like it should be. If he had a Romita head sculpt, I probably would've went for this one still and pawned off the Vulture.
Really Hasbro?! This Spidey is a huge regression Not only is it seemingly less articulated than its predecessors, but the overall sculpt just doesnt look great compared to the ones in all the side by side photos (the cell shaded retro version is uglier only because of the shading, but the sculpt is still better imo, and I wish they would use that blue on an unshaded version.) I specifically dont really like the chin on the masked head either. The Renew Your Vows one is probably the best looking, followed by the Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends 3-pack version. But even with the pins, the original animated retro card figure looks better than this, which is really quite sad. I still use that first animated retro Spider-Man in my display simply because I never picked up any of the others, but Im not going to be upgrading to this one since I am using that term sarcastically in this case. The grabby hand with the removed mask for holding is about the only thing I kind of like, but that isnt enough to sway me. The animated Vulture looks good, though I prefer the comic look, so not something of interest to me either.
This is actually a pretty good Spider-Man, really would fit seamlessly into a comic collection, Vulture as well, Because he did look young and had this outfit in the comics for a time, honestly this is a good set for the Animated subline, thankfully no cell shading weirdeyness. I'll still pass on it though.
