Hobby is one of those characters that I always have a weakness for and have a hard time passing up. I think that I still have every single one that Hasbro / Toy Biz has ever done. Although I have a number of Marvel Select figures I generally just don't like this scale. I'm going to resist pre-ordering it, but I'm betting if I ever see it at one of my local comic book stores at any type of discount that I'll likely have to pick it up. $35 is pushing what I'm willing to pay. Also my experience with Diamond has been that this will likely come out nearly a full year later than expected anyway. JayC - 2024-12-20 @ 5:04 am
Watch out, Spider-Man! There's a new Goblin in town, and he's out for blood! The Hobgoblin swoops in on a goblin-glider-display base and makes a beeline for Spidey, with a variety of interchangeable hands, heads, and pumpkin bomb accessories! This 1/10 scale action figure stands approximately 7" tall and features 16 points of articulation. It comes in display-ready Select action figure packaging, with side-panel artwork for shelf display. Designed by Yuri Timg, sculpted by Chris Dahlberg!. You can pre-order this from our sponsors BigBadToyStore.com and Entertainment Earth.
Looks quite good, Diamond really is all over the map when it comes to figures, for every thing like this, we get a wacky stinker, but as of late DST has been doing a relatively strong job, and has really updated their formula, I'd get this figure if it was fudge-able into a Legends display but you know this guy is going to be huge and won't fit, looks really good, much better then the recent Hobgoblin offering from Hasbro that was all kinds of bright.
Select can be such a roll of the dice, but I'm loving that unmasked head. This is almost definitely a pick-up for me.
Now this is how you do Hobgoblin right, sculpt is superb, comic book style chainmail sculpt is perfection, coloring while not exactly classic is still very appropriate and gives figure modern yet faithful look.

I'd even take $35 deluxe figures of them if they include alternate heads, large gliders and stands. Really all they need to do is the diaphragm/ab crunch combo torso with pinless scale mail arms and legs, then slap on new heads and you've got easy rereleases for Green Goblin, Hobgoblin, Gray Goblin, Demogoblin, etc. I wish haha. One that would be awesome, but that's asking too much from hasbro. They have new molds right now and barely even use them and worse prioritize those old molds. Exhibit a. using the Sunfire buck when they made the RVD Spiderman or even the retro Spidey buck, or how they made that new Wolvie buck but have released 2 Wolverine after on the older style bucks. I understand reuse and blah blah blah but this particular point is very aggravating for me. I wonder when we are going to see the best buck they ever produced IMO in that Punisher mold, could have used it for that new Cyclops maybe.
I'm getting this just for the glider. Gonna put my toybiz era hobgoblin on it. He is my longest tenured figure in my ML collection.

I really started to become a big MS fan, and I have purchased most of their last few offerings and will most likely get this one. It blows ML out of the water in terms of paint, sculpts, and better relative pricing (comparable articulation). And yeah the scaling thing sucks but that's contract stipulation. And all their bigger characters fit perfectly with ML. So I hope to see more of that trend going into next year. Very excited about their Annihilus! AndyL - 2024-12-17 @ 4:05 pm
See this is the kind of stuff that makes it hard to maintain my personal ban on MS. This looks amazing. Looks like it stepped right of the comic panel. And I love that Kingsley head sculpt. But as good as it looks I know it's basically just a figure on it's own island. It won't match or scale or even compare artistically to any other figure. Be it ML or DCM even other figures in the MS line. That's their biggest flaw and I honestly think the reason they don't sell much better. Just pick a scale. If they were proper 7" I think a lot of people would buy to stand with DCM. And if they went 6" I know a lot of people would buy to go with their ML. Especially with their tendency to do characters ML hasn't done. Anyway this thing looks great but as usually I'll just admire it and move on. No place for it in my collection.
