ToyFarce News: Maximum Series Spider-Man - "Admittedly, We Would Have Complained No Matter What The Price Was..."

Last month, Hasbro unveiled the much-anticipated Marvel Legends Maximum Series Spider-Man figure, a figure boasting a stunning new sculpt, loads of articulation, and some impressive accessories, kicking off a new line. Collectors worldwide have been speculating about the price ever since, with some getting already worked up about it even though there was no confirmation, until earlier this week, when the price of $49.99 was finally revealed. Guess the reaction! ToyFarce investigated.

As soon as the price tag was revealed, the internet did what it does best: immediately burst into flames! Some fans called it too expensive, others debated whether it was worth it, and a few brave souls actually tried to justify it. There was a lot of comparisons to other previous Hasbro items or even import figures, when to be fair, there's really no comparison... I mean, a cinderblock is cheaper than a Maximum Series Spider-Man, but I wouldn't put it in a Detolf glass cabinet (the weight would definitely break the little square glass shelf!). But after hours of heated discussion, a member of the toy community decided to make a bold admission: "We would have complained no matter what."

-If it had been cheaper, we'd have said: "Why is this so cheap? I thought it was supposed to be a premium deluxe line! Are they cutting corners? Are we missing extra hands?!"

-If it had been more expensive, we'd have screamed: "THAT MUCH?! No way! Hasbro is officially out of their mind!". "Maximum Series? More like Maximum Price! Huhuhuh!" (Actual comment I've read in a Facebook post).

-If it had been exactly the price we expected, we'd have still found a reason to complain, possibly saying "Hasbro is playing it safe, there's something fishy" or debating how it should have at least included a Build-A-Figure piece.

Let's be real: It’s 2025, and complaining about action figure prices is now just as much a part of the hobby as collecting them. It’s a time-honored tradition, passed down through generations of collectors, right alongside debating which Spider-Man figure is definitively the best.

So, while some will praise the new Maximum Series Spider-Man for its improved details and articulation, and others will forever curse Hasbro for "rUiNiNg tHe hObBy", we can all agree on one thing: We were always going to be mad about something anyway.

What do you think? Did you get one? Is it overpriced? A fair deal? Or is the real villain in this story... us? Let us know in the comments!

More news at 11:00... For a figure that 'nobody should buy and we should all boycott', it certainly sold out fast, though, didn't it?
