Marvel Legends Maximum Series - What's Next?

This week we saw the new Marvel Legends Maximum Series Spider-Man figure pre-order come and go. The figure was sold at "Fan-Channel" etailers including Amazon and Gamestop and had a MSRP of $49.99. Pre-Orders sold out at most online etailers in a 24-48 hour period which would seemingly suggest that the figure overall was fairly well received by collectors. If you missed the pre-orders for Spider-Man, I believe you can still get one from Gamestop and I wouldn't be surprised if other retailers that are currently sold out don't get more in at a later time. In other words I wouldn't run off to the secondary market in a panic just yet.

So what is next for this new Maximum Marvel Legends subline? Well as we told you back in November when we first told you about this new accessory packed line, the next figure released for it likely will be a new Incredible Hulk figure. This one should include three different heads, three different pairs of hands (Open/Clapping, Close Fisted, Gripping), some kind of firing missile, wind clapping effect and punch effect. Hulk should stand 8.5" tall. No word on price for that one.

I have also seen indications we might get a third figure in this line for 2025 which would be a new Deadpool figure. I have no other details on this one at this time.

Of course like always, until Hasbro official confirms Hulk and Deadpool we will treat these as RUMOR at this time.

I was juggling btw the opinions of false scarcity or their team reporting smaller count production and I almost want to give Hasbro the benefit of the doubt but they just charged 50 for this Spiderman so... Regardless both can be true and Hasbro as I think JayC reported somewhere here that there looking to keep this thing available all year, probably each being small runs.

It's not a new practice. If you remember that's something they used to accuse Target with doing with their exclusive for a long time. They would sell out immediately only to pop up for sale again at the most random and unexpected times. Honestly I think they were just trying to throw the scalpers off track and give the real fans a chance at the product with no particular notice to anyone who could take advantage. I think the intentions were actually good. Whether they were effective or not is up to debate I guess but it's been a while since I've seen one of the main complaints being about scalpers. This gives me shades the tactics of that time. In fact it's eerily similar. Only this time it seems like they are only specifically doing it to give the perception of higher demand. Probably just my opinion but wouldn't it be interesting to get the actual units sold numbers compared to other deluxe type products? As usual I won't hold my breath though.

I'm curious of course to see what they do with a Max Hulk, but it's unlikely I'd get it. The price in Canadian yes, but the 80th Hulk is still pretty stellar imo. I love the idea of seeing Mr Fantastic in this line, and my own pick and most likely to get me to budge would the Absorbing Man, as he's one of my fav classic villains.

Effects? I hope they use a better plastic for the figure itself, I remember that Thor Ragnarok with the spinning hammer effect that wasn't able to pose at all for the cheap plastic in the legs and arm joints. I learned my lesson and now I buy after watch reviews when possible.

Yep I do that same now that's why I generally stay away from preorders for figures that I am not 100% in need (well want), and now I don't shy away from canceling preorders immediately after seeing early reviews. For ex. the agent venom figure which I was hyped about, was lackluster from mid-articulation to the small stature. Just disappointing. I am no longer in the business of buying ok even for characters I adore, I have waited decades for some characters I can wait longer for a proper version (until shi-t hits the fan).

The hulk will be an all new pinless sculpt. I think it will be amazing and better than expected. The sale out with spiderman I think is due to it being a lower production run. They said they are making less and seems true. I haven't seen any of last year's stuff at Ollie's.

These are excellent points I have heard on streams with the ML team that Hasbro has been lowering production runs due to gross overproduction of figures over the last few years with warehouses full of them. So that is plausible.

. And honestly I think Hasbro is creating a false scarcity on purpose because they seem to be selling like hotcakes but I don't know very many collectors that aren't waiting for this thing to go on sale.

And maximum Deadpool is about as needed as maximum wolverine, too many versions released already of them. We need maximum versions of villains like magneto, Loki, Bullseye...etc.

Should be some easy passes, unless that Hulk is that much better than the 80 years version. At this point Iceman and Mr. Fantastic are probably the only characters I could justify buying at this price point, since they probably can't release the truly definitive editions at the standard price.

Great point. There are but a few characters I would go for at this price point. Characters whose power extensions would create the need for extra pieces. Mr Fantastic and Iceman being two of them. But how about Venom, Carnage or pretty much any Symbiote? Maybe Human Torch or Pyro. How about Groot? How about an Archangel where he could switch between the two personas? Not saying this price point is ridiculous outright but underwhelming circumstances it could be justifiable. But things like Spidey should have been done in a complete sense a long time ago. And something like this should go for no more than $35 or $40 max. And honestly I think Hasbro is creating a false scarcity on purpose because they seem to be selling like hotcakes but I don't know very many collectors that aren't waiting for this thing to go on sale.

Yes! That Joe Bennet look is so iconic and harkens back to the classic look as well. Definitely want that as one of the heads. And for anyone that did not read Immortal Hulk, do yourself a favor and grab the trades. It's one of my favorite series of the last decade, and a reminder of why I still read comics.

Immortal Hulk is my favorite top 3 Hulk comic run ever produced that why I am so hoping that the ML team would allocate at least 1 proper Alex Ross-inspired immortal hulk just like the covers!

well given that they are given us clapping hands this new hulk will have forward shoulder joints so that an up on the 80th / 20th build.

How long will they drag out releasing Carnage as part of the Maximum line?
