Rumors have been circling the Internet the last couple of weeks about whether or not the movie rights for Marvel's Daredevil would revert back to them this year or not. If 20th Century Fox who currently has the rights doesn't get a new movie into production by October 10th, then Daredevil will go home to Marvel.
We heard
recently that Fox and Marvel had been discussing the possibility of extending that October deadline while Fox looked at a gritter "Frank Miller-esque" type story to be done by director Joe Carnahan.
Well now Carnahan is
tweeting that his idea for ol' horn head has apparently fallen flat and that the studio won't be moving forward with it,
"idea for a certain retro, red-suited, Serpico-styled superhero went up in smoke today kids."
He later even went on to
tweet about the pitch he had shown to Fox, asking his followers if they wanted to see it,
"DD pitch was tremendous and everyone flipped for it. The clock ticked down at Fox, that's why it went t*ts up."
He posted two sizzle pieces on YouTube, a NC-17 and a PG-13 version which you can check out below:
There has been no official statement from Fox or Marvel about the actual status of Daredevil. Most seem to feel that this was the last best chance for Fox getting something going before their deadline expires. If the rights revert back to Marvel, the next question is, when would we see Marvel get something going for the Man Without Fear?
Let us know below, do you want to see Marvel get the rights back to Daredevil?
