Marc Webb & Andrew Garfield Confirmed To Return For Amazing Spider-Man 2

Columbia Pictures today confirmed that Marc Webb would be returning to direct the sequel to this summer's Amazing Spider-Man movie and that actor Andrew Garfield would also be returning to play the lead role of Spider-Man/Peter Parker. Emma Stone is currently in talks as well to reprise her role as Peter's girlfriend Gwen Stacy.

Production is expect to begin early next year and it will be produced by Avi Arad of Arad Prods. and Matt Tolmach.

The screenplay is being scribed by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Jeff Pinkner, and will be based on a previous draft by James Vanderbilt.

Amazing Spider-Man 2 is slated to open in theaters in 3D on May 2, 2014.
