MovieWeb has learned from reader, Gil Brooks that Wolverine was supposed to be suited up in X-Men suit of the classic yellow with black helmet and gloves but this look was cut from the movie. The costume was done by Legacy Effects digital modeler and sculptor Adam Ross, who has worked on such recent genre fare as Iron Man 3, Pacific Rim, RoboCop and Oblivion. The original image was removed by request but the comic book cover below gives you an idea of how the costume would have looked.
"This is the costume that I modeled for The Wolverine. It was unused in the final cut of the film. Everything in the box is digitally modeled and 3d printed. There is no cloth or leather used in these parts, but rather texturing added in ZBrush."
MovieWeb does point out that the suit may have an appearance in the X-Men: Days Of Future Past. The suit was introduced in 1975 and the movie takes place in the 1970's. It wasn't until the 1980's that Logan first donned his signature red, brown and yellow costume, which may also make an appearance in X-Men: Days of Future Past.
