X-Men: Apocalypse To Take Place In The 80's With Familiar Characters That Are Younger

X-Men: Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer is once again out talking about the next installment in the X-Men movie franchise, X-Men: Apocalypse. This time his comments come via an interview in the latest issue of Total Film magazine which the folks at CBM have posted online.

For those who haven't been keeping up, X-Men: Apocalypse is slated to be released in 2016, after X-Men: Days of Future Past which opens in theaters on May 23, 2014. In the interview Singer reiterates comments he has made before about the movie, such as it focusing on the notion of ancient mutants and how they were born and existed thousands of years ago.

He goes on to say that Apocalypse will take place in the 80's time period and contain more mass destruction than any other X-Men movie to date. One other interesting tid-bit he drops in the interview is that the movie will introduce familiar characters in a younger time. Since the movie will focus on the mutant-villain known as Apocalypse, who in the comics has often had a connection with the Summer's family, hopefully that will mean we will finally see a return of Cyclops to the big screen and maybe even the rest of the original X-Men which included Jean Grey, Angel, Beast and Iceman.
