While not a huge surprise being The Avengers and Guardians seem to share a common enemy in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it would seem that Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn has all but confirmed for us all that in fact a movie crossover between the two teams will happen at some point. In a recent interview with
Yahoo he was quoted as saying the following:
“We talked about all sorts of possibilities [for a crossover] and I kind of know what the basic plan is. It could always change at any minute."
"That could or could not include a couple of Avengers and a couple of Guardians meeting up, or all of the Avengers and all of the Guardians. But, we do inhabit the same universe and they’re pretty big personalities that are likely to, at some point or another, run into each other.”
The biggest obstacle standing in the way of such a crossover would likely be box office budgets. Could one movie afford to encompass all the actors from both teams. Of course to offset this problem as Gunn hinted to we would likely see only key characters from both teams make it on screen together. Would it happen in an Avengers movie, Guardians of the Galaxy movie which has already been slated for a sequel in 2017 or could they do a whole new off-shot team-up type movie separate from both Avengers and Guardians? Only time will tell I suppose. If there was to be a team-up between the two teams on the big-screen which characters would you like see make the cut for it?
