Though it really shouldn't come as much of a surprise to anyone,
Deadline reports that Fox has closed a deal for Director Bryan Singer to helm the next X-Men movie which has been titled X-Men: Apocalypse.
For those who have lost track, Singer directed the first two X-Men movies as well as the most recent X-Men: Days Of Future Past which was released this past summer and performed very well at the Box Office with a $746 million worldwide take.
According to Deadline, Apocalypse takes place a decade after Days of Future Past as the altering of time has unleashed a new and uniquely powerful enemy. Xavier (James McAvoy), Erik/Magneto (Michael Fassbender), Raven/Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) and Hank/Beast (Nicholas Hoult) return and will be joined by a young Cyclops, Storm, Jean and others as the X-Men must fight an ancient evil determined to bring on the Apocalypse.
This latest movie is being scripted by Simon Kinberg from a story written by Singer, Kinberg, Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris. Singer and Lauren Shuler Donner are producing with Kinberg and Hutch Parker. It will begin shooting early next year and will open in theaters on May 27, 2016.
