You almost get the sense that actor Toby Kebbell is having a little fun with fans in a recent interview with the folks at
Collider where he reveals new details about the villain Dr. Doom he will be playing for the upcoming Josh Trask directed Fantastic Four reboot movie for 20th Century Fox. In the interview he reveals that the characters real name has been changed from Victor Von Doom as he is known in the comic to
Victor Domashev, and that his online blogger name is Doom.
KEBBELL: He’s Victor Domashev, not Victor Von Doom in our story. And I’m sure I’ll be sent to jail for telling you that. The Doom in ours—I’m a programmer. Very anti-social programmer. And on blogging sites I’m “Doom”.
As for how the character fits in with the overall tone of the film, this is what he says,
KEBBELL: Yeah, it was cool man. Josh, the whole deal, the lo-fi way he did it, the ultra-real. It was just nice to do that. It was nice to be feeling like we had to come to terms with what was given by this incident.
The cast for the new film includes Miles Teller (Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic), Kate Mara (Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman), Jamie Bell (Ben Grimm/The Thing), Michael B. Jordan (Johnny Storm/Human Torch) and Toby Kebbell as the villain Dr. Doom. The movie is slated to open hits theaters on June 19, 2015.
