Ryan Reynolds was at the Sundance Film Festival where his new movie 'Mississippi Grind' had just premiered and
MTV caught up with him to ask him about 'Deadpool.'
“The budget isn’t what we hoped it would be, this is actually the suit,” joked Reynolds, pointing out his surprisingly Deadpool-costume colored flannel shirt. He mentions that the movie has been in the works for a while but had a few minor problems here and there including a turn as the character in 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' that some fans were less than pleased with — he’s happy about how it all turned out.
“It’s been a long time, but it’s happened in the right way and that’s all that matters,” Reynolds said.
“We don’t have the kind of money that most superhero movies do, but that’s great, actually. Necessity is the mother of invention, and that’s why we get to make the movie we want to make.”
Months before 'Deadpool' was greenlit by FOX, test footage featuring Reynolds’ comic-book faithful take on the character leaked online. Sources were wondering if these was Reynolds leaked the footage to give the movie some exposure?
“I would have FOX’s lawyers so far up my ass they could smell Wade Wilson’s feet,” Reynolds joked.
“No, no, no I didn’t leak it. But I would have. Looking back now, in a heartbeat. I should go home and scan the old hard drive and see what I’ve got in there.”
