The search for a new actor to replace Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man for Sony's third relaunch of the character, which will see him become a more integral part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as
announced the other day, has begun.
Variety is reporting that the studio is looking at young actors Dylan O達rien (Teen Wolf, Maze Runner) and Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson, Fury) for the role of Spider-Man, though neither actor has actually been approached for the part as of yet.
According to Variety, Sony plans to relaunch the character with a new director, replacing Marc Webb, and once again placing him in high school where they will focus more on him exploring his awkward relationship with other students while fighting crime out of the classroom. They also say that Sony might decide to go with another character other than Peter Parker to don the webbed mask. The Ultimate Universe version, Miles Morales is one such possibility mentioned.
The Studio will have to act fast to put all of this together, as the rumors now indicate that Marvel Studios wants the new Spider-Man in place for their Captain America: Civil War movie which will hit theaters next year.
