THR confirms that Robert Downey Jr. Will be appearing in the upcoming Spider-Man Homecoming movie from Sony Pictures. Downey will reprise his role of Tony Stark/Iron Man as seen in the Disney Marvel Cinematic Universe and likely play some kind of mentor role to the new Spider-Man being played by Tom Holland.
Holland debutes as the new Spider-Man later this month in Disney's Captain America: Civil War movie which sees Spider-Man joining Iron Man's team against Captain America. Spider-Man: Homecoming will open in theaters on July 7, 2017.
