Check out a brand-new official trailer for the hotly anticipated Marvel sequel "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," which just debuted on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Chris Pratt (aka Peter Quill aka Star-Lord) was on hand to give recent Oscar host Jimmy Kimmel and his talk-show audience an exclusive peek at some exciting, new footage from the James Gunn-directed comic book movie, which sees the Guardians back in action.
The film, also starring Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax and featuring Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel as the voices of Rocket and Baby Groot, will have the Guardian "family" partnering up with a couple of old foes: Gamora's evil assassin sister Nebula (Karen Gillan) and space pirate Yondu (Michael Rooker). The team will also be adding a new member to the group, an alien character who goes by the name Mantis (played by Pom Klementieff ).
The story, which is also written by Gunn, will finally unravel the mystery of Quill's long-lost father. He's an ancient cosmic being called "Ego," sometimes refer to as "Ego, the Living Planet." A nicely bearded Kurt Russell is playing Ego in his humanoid form as teased in the final moments of the new trailer.
Set to the backdrop of 'Awesome Mixtape 2,' Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team's adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill's true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes' aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.
