According to THR, actor Jake Gyllenhaal is in talks to play the role of Spider-Man villain Mysterio in the next Spider-Man movie from Sony.

In the comics Mysterio's real name is Quentin Beck who is a special effects expert that uses his talents to create elaborate illusions for committing crimes and fighting Spider-Man.

Mysterio is also known for being a member of the super-villain group known as the Sinister Six which originally featured the likes of Vulture who was played by Michael Keaton and appeared in the first Spider-Man movie as well as Doctor Octopus, Sandman, Electro and Kraven The Hunter.

Hopefully Spider-Man (Tom Holland) will have returned to the land of the living after the events of Avengers 4 which opens in theaters on May 3, 2019 so he can be in this movie as well. The Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel is set to open in theaters July 5, 2019.
