Deadline that J.B. Smoove will star in Sony Pictures Spider-Man: Far from Home. Sony would not comment on Smoove's role but
Deadline is being told it's a lead role.
Previously cast in a new lead was Jake Gyllenhaal, who is expected to play the villain Mysterio. Jon Watts is directing, and Tom Holland returns as the webslinger, with Michael Keaton, Zendaya and Marisa Tomei expected to reprise.
The film is dated for July 5, 2019. Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal are producing.
