Avengers: Endgame last night won awards for Best Visual Effects and Best Action movie at the Critics' Choice Awards. Today it was nominated for a Best Visual Effects Academy Award. The 92nd Academy Awards ceremony will take place on 9 February 9, 2020.
Wish I could say I'm surprised it didn't get more nods, but I'm not. The academy is notorious for not nominating movies that are huge blockbusters that audiences love.
Back when Avatar lost to The Hurt Locker, I was really ticked off at that. A buddy of mine said "Raiders of the Lost Ark lost to Chariots of Fire. Who the hell remembers Chariots of Fire? The Oscars have done this crapfor years. The good movies are the ones audiences remember." I think of this every time the Oscars roll around.
I'm still hoping they would recognize Robert Downey Jrs performance like the Russo Bros...it was a great comeback to RDJ
Nice to see some recognition
