I don't know. I think Dark Phoenix had its moments. It definitely had some boring parts too, though. I liked X2 a lot when it came out, but it hasn't aged well,in my opinion.

Guys, Dark Phoenix was no masterpiece, but have you watched the other X-Men films? Sure, itwas worsethan Days of Future Past and Logan, but about in the same tier as Apocalypse and the Wolverine, which is to saywayyy better than all the other garbage Fox put out. It was among the better movies ina terrible franchise. I guess I'm just not sure whatanyone was expecting from the studio that brought us Origins: Wolverine, First Class, and the original trilogy.

Sure, Apocalypse looked cheap and The Wolverine was uneven (not even mentioning X-men: Origins Wolverine and X-men: The Last Stand, two of the three worst of the franchise)but Dark Phoenix committed the cardinal sin of franchise movies: BORING. I'd rather rewatch those other movies because I can at least enjoy some parts. I can't say the same for Dark Phoenix.

X2 was a gem. But yea First Class was pretty bad.

Yeah, I thought the Wolverine was fine! Again, no masterpiece, but solid entertainment, same as Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix.

And I still would like to see or at least know what was the original ending! I also enjoyed The Wolverine, but the director's cut version.

That was probably because that's how the Fox streaming rights for theatrical releases were setup

Exactly. The producers of these movies, Dark Phoenix and New Mutants, havea deal where HBO has first dibs on streaming.

The very fact that Disney has their own streaming, yet their movie (after a run in theatres) debuts on HBO proves it.

My suspicion is: Disney would rather make money on whatever paltry Box Office $$$ either movie (DPh and NM) would makeinstead of cancelling the theatrical release altogether and making ZERO money out of it and having HBO benefit from new subscribers from debuting those movies first. We know Disney has no problem canceling a theatrical release if they can still debut a movie on their Disney+ streaming: Artemis Fowl.

Can you imagine if this movie does well and they decide to do a sequel? All the actors will probably be at least 5 years older from when they first filmed this one!

Not really. Fox was bought out by Disney in March 2019, Dark Phoenix came out in theatres in June that same year. Yet it debutedon streaming on HBO--not DisneyPlus--just this past March. You really think Disney was just in a very charitable mood?

That was probably because that's how the Fox streaming rights for theatrical releases were setup and Disney+ hadn't launched yet.

Maybe, but now that Disney are releasing New Mutants and own the rights, they have pretty much ever right to release it on Disney+ after all Disney wouldn't have the same deal with HBO

These new leaked Images from the movie look awesome, I'm even more excited about this, but I'm super skeptical about this August 28th release date, even if we are back in the world with some normalcy and theaters are open I feel people are going to be really apprehensive about packing themselves into a small sticky close seated box to watch a film, this really should have just been released already as a straight to digital/dvd , it would and is going to probably make as much or more if they did that and just has forgone the theatres, I feel like not enough people even care about this movie, it was never going to be a "mainstream" hit, but maybe I'm wrong... and man people I know seem have no faith in Fox anymore after what we were subjected to last year (Dark Phoenix)

I for one and very stoked about this movie, and always have been, but even if august 28th comes around and all is kinda okay, I can't see myself going to a theater
