Sony Leaves Door Open To The Possibility Of Tobey Maguire & Andrew Garfield Joining Tom Holland For Spider-Man 3

Sony Leaves Door Open To The Possibility Of Tobey Maguire & Andrew Garfield Joining Tom Holland For Spider-Man 3

Jay Cochran - October 16, 2020
Ever since news broke several weeks ago about actor Jamie Foxx reprising his role as Electro for Sony's Spider-Man 3 movie that stars Tom Holland, rumors have been rampant that previous Spider-Man actors Tobey Maguire & Andrew Garfield would also be joining the cast.

According to Entertainment Tonight, Sony is neither confirming or denying that possibility. According to them a Sony rep told them the following when asked about Garfield and Maquire:

“Those rumoured castings are not confirmed,”

Just last week it was confirmed that Benedict Cumberbatch would be reprising his role as Doctor Strange for the movie giving more credence the plot of the film will have some kind of Multiverse theme. After all the next Doctor Strange movie is titled Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.

Since Sony isn't flat out denying the Tobey Maguire & Andrew Garfield casting rumors, that likely means that things are still being negotiated between the studio and the two actors, or it's a done deal and the studio is waiting for the right time to make the official announcement. If things are still in the negotiating stage, that could certainly mean things don't work out and one or both of the actors could walk away from the negotiating table. We will just have to wait and see.

Haha spider-verse.... Don't leave out Pork-grind or Miles Morales...  I'm always down for a curveball and some crazy bat #$## crazy ideas.   Bring back Kirsten Dunst too!

Lot of reports that we will be getting some information in December, at least we might get a synopsis or title

Personally, I'd love to see Sony establish a new Spider-franchise totally separate from Disney's. Different story, different Spider-Man, the whole nine yards. No magic techno-suits, no Iron Man bromance, no genius school.

I see no point in this and really if anything, just an avenue to disaster. Just concentrate on building up Spider-Man's background and flesh out his own stories first.

Yeah, Spidey's identity being exposed and wanted for the murder of Mysterio is plenty for a movie, we don't need it sidelined by Into the Live Action Spiderverse

DC is bringing Keaton into Batman Role for Flash. And knowing how reactionary Disney was in the past with h Civil War right after BvS announcement, It only makes sense Marvel will try to attempt to bring Tobey and Andrew, theres whole generation that grew up on Sam Raimis Spider-Man trilogy, Andrew Garfield movies also have  their fans mostly due to organic chemistry Emma Stone and Garfield portrayed in the movie. So theres more than one bough fan base and recognition to make it popular.  I dont think its crazy madness or even bad. Seeing them back would be amazing if its done right, and it can   it can be disappointing and heartbreaking if its done wrong.  Both Tobey and Andrew deserve this chance because they were  fired  without hesitation by Sony when it was really Sonys execs fault movies suffered and sucked. So with right story this can be awesome but I think at this point we need small clues and teases and maybe do real spider verse movie in 4,5 or even 6th movie as the conclusive end of second trilogy for Holland.

I think we all would but if they're gonna get silly with it might as well go all out.  Of course Nicholas Hammond is 70 so he'd have to play retired spidey or something. i'm hoping these rumors amount to just quick cameos rather than Maguire and Garfield being integral to the plot, anyhow.

He could play spider ben. Either versions

I really wish Disney/Marvel can get spider-man's licence out of Sony's hands...this is madness

agreed I want nothing, I think it's going to be a bad mistep to make a multiverse movie with Toby and Andrew's Spider-Men being involved because of a multiverse.
