Sources from within have informed
Deadline that Adam Scott has landed a role in Sony Pictures’ Madame Web starring Dakota Johnson. No information has been provided on his character.
Scott joins a cast that includes Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced, and Emma Roberts. The film was written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, with Kerem Sanga penning an earlier draft. Sony has set a July 7th, 2023 release date for the film.
The project is based on the Marvel comic from writer Denny O’Neil and artist John Romita Jr.
Madame Web is the next entry and first female character to be developed within the Sony Pictures Universe Universe of Marvel characters. Depicted in the comics as an elderly woman suffering from the autoimmune disorder myasthenia gravis, who is therefore connected to a life-support system resembling a spider web, Madame Web is a clairvoyant whose psychic abilities allow her to see within the spider world. The film will be an origin story of the character.
Scott has received an Emmy nomination for his critically hailed role in the Apple series Severance.
They are really rolling it out with the casting here, I feel like they are betting the farm on this movie, hey maybe this will usher in a new age of Sony Marvel movies, maybe this will be the grand slam, and they take the crown from Marvel Studios, seems unlikely but...
Adam scott is older man Ben Reilly....
Adam is pretty great in the roles Ive seen him in. No doubt he will deliver the shitty lines written for him with enthusiasm.
The cast is really good and the potential seems to be too but I have no trust for sony execs, they keep making movies like it's 1990s, Morbius and two Venoms being prime examples of that.
