Marvel president/CCO Kevin Feige sounds pretty excited to see what James Gunn does for DC after Gunn's new employment is being co-chairman and co-CEO of DC Studios.
"I’ll be first in line to see anything he does," Feige told
Deadline when they caught up to him at the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever red carpet.
"Well, he has got a lot of work to do for Marvel between now and May, which he’s well aware of."
Gunn has Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and the Guardians holiday special to finish up for Marvel.
One of the worst things about DC movies is, it seemed to me, they tried to copy Marvel Studios without putting in the same work and time that they did. DC/Warner figured, correctly, that their characters are probably better known by the larger, non-comic book reading audience. But they didn't flesh out those characters (the first Wonder Woman and Aquaman were good) or make them as compelling as they could have...and no, "dark" is not a fit for every thing. At any rate, it'll be interesting to see what Gunn does.
Of course! I mean James Gunn not only is an amazing filmmaker, he also seems like a really good guy to be around. I'm sure DC will find a nice new direction for it to go on. I can't wait to see what Gunn does.
I'm excited as well, this sounds like the best thing DC Movie Universe has had going for them since it's inception, James might just be the DC's Kevin, or one can hope, he cares about the fabric of the source material he should make a nice product going forward that can finally rival Marvel, One can only hope for the best with this.
