October 28, 2022
Deadline is reporting that after writing and producing the first two Venom movies, Kelly Marcel will be taking the reins and helming the third movie for Marvel and Sony Pictures, starring Tom Hardy.

The screenplay was written by Marcel from a story by Marcel and Hardy. Producing the project will be Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal, Hutch Parker, Marcel, and Hardy.

Plot details are unknown and it's anyone's guess who Venom will be facing off against but it is confirmed that Tom Hardy is returning to reprise the role of Venom.

Yeah so the first Venom was ok at best but so hard to follow the action due to the nature of the Symbiotes. The 2nd Venom film was incomprehensible. Morbius was comparable to the 1st Venom. Leto was tolerable but the story was weak and boring.

It doesnt surprise me that they green lit a third Venom but when a movie series peaks with the first one.. maybe just move on

I didnt necessarily despise the Venom movies but wasnt impressed by them either. To be honest it just hit me that I saw the second one and right now, can't tell you a single thing about it. Seriously.

Morbius, you aint missing much.

I mean, first movie made close to 8x the production cost, second one made about 5x... and both were a hell of a lot more fun than half the MCU films have been.

But sure, Jan.

Yeah, I mean, the MCU's worst financial return is Incredible Hulk with less than twice it's budget. And that doesn't mean a thing. unless you're the one making it.

There's no objective way to measure how good/bad a movie is, you can determine certain parameters but they won't mean anything to someone with different perspective. Following your financial parameters, Morbius made less that twice it's budget and that's the follow up to Let there be Carnage. There is a clear decline in Sony Marvel Universe interest.

I haven't gotten around to watching Morbius, but I absolutely despised both Venom movies. I was incredibly bored, barely found any jokes amusing, and I didn't like how they treated certain characters and what I used to know about them from comics, games and cartoons. I'm not even gonna compare them to the MCU because it doesn't matter, I'll just keep spending my money on what I like, and this ain't it.

True story. Throw in how terrible pretty much every Disney+ series has been.
