Tom Holland recently addressed the absence of a sequel to his highly successful film, Spider-Man: No Way Home. Speaking at a press conference with the Critics Choice Association, Holland explained that a compelling storyline for a potential fourth installment has not yet materialized.
During the conference, Holland expressed his dedication to the character of Spider-Man and his desire to do justice to the beloved superhero. He emphasized the importance of protecting Spider-Man's legacy and ensuring that any future film is worthwhile.
While there is currently no sequel in the works, Holland remains open to the possibility. He acknowledged that if a great story emerges and the film receives the green light, he would gladly don the iconic suit once again. Holland expressed his gratitude towards Spider-Man for the opportunities it has provided him and his love for the character and the talented individuals he has had the privilege to work with.
In conclusion, while there is no immediate plan for a sequel, Holland's commitment to Spider-Man and his willingness to continue the story remains contingent on finding the right narrative that does justice to the character.

I think one reason so much focus has been on this is because a few years back Tom Holland stated that if he's still playing Spiderman in his 30's, then he's done something wrong as an actor. So being signed up for a new trilogy would take him to that age so I guess there's always speculation about him walking away from the role.
I think he signaling he wants a really good script not a "anything will sell after NWH" type attitude, especially in context of MCU quality issues.
I was under the impression Tom was always gonna keep going as Spidey for quite a while, wasn't there statements made he was signed already for more movies, they just had not written them yet?
I'm increasingly of the mind that Spidey would do better as a TV/ Streaming series than all these big All-out mega-blockbuster events. That way all the great villains aren't getting killed off in every outing and there's more time for better and more interesting plots. Expensive, I'm sure, but still do'able imo; they've got decades of material that can be adapted.

They've made it very clear he's under contract for at least 3 more films. I'm sure there some out clause but what else is he going to do that's going to get him half the money he'll be making as Spidey.
Clickbait of course.
There is also where he will return in a Spidey movie or appear as a guest star in another movie.
Holding off till they have the right story is the right move. Frankly I wasn't that thrilled with the absurd and irresponsible notions put forth with the Dr. Strange Marvel Team Up they did, so getting something back to basics would be welcome.

Yeah I think they're just looking for a new direction after the last big epic and the end of the big MCU epic. DD and KP would be awesome but I think the thought is that they want to move forward without any MCU which I think was part of the implication of him moving on with his original suit. Personally I think it's a mistake but it is Spider-Man so throw some cool baddies out there and get busy finding a way to finally work the Sinister 6 into the story.
